Evidence of Torah before Mount Sinai.

5  'Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.'  (KJV)

Exodus 18:16

Evidence of Torah before Mount Sinai.

16 'When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.'  (KJV)

What are these statutes/laws/Torot and where did Moses/Mosheh learn them?  This verse is chronologically before the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai.

18 'Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety.'  (KJV)

15 'One ordinance shall be both for you of the congregation, and also for the stranger that sojourneth with you, an ordinance for ever in your generations: as ye are, so shall the stranger be before the LORD.'  (KJV)

One Torah for everyone who believes in YHWH.

16 'One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you.'  (KJV)

2 'Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.'  (KJV)

13 'And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone. '

18 'Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.'  (KJV)

19 'And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.'  (KJV)

20 'And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:'  (KJV)

4  'Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.'

32  'What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.'  (KJV)

28 'Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.'  (KJV)

This was done to stop the lions from attacking.

34 'Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;'  (KJV)

If the Torah is only for the Hebrew people, why is it mentioned here in relation to the Gentiles living in the land.

41 'So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.'  (KJV)

If the Torah is only for the Hebrew people, why is it mentioned here in relation to the Gentiles living in the land.

13 'Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.'  (KJV)

31 'But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.'

2 'Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.'

3 Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.'

4 For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;'

5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.'

6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;'

7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.'

8 The Lord GOD, which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him. '

23 'But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.'

3 'And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant, '

23 'Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.'

10 'Ye shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the border of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.'

11 'This city shall not be your caldron, neither shall ye be the flesh in the midst thereof; but I will judge you in the border of Israel:'

11 'And ye shall know that I am the LORD: for ye have not walked in my statutes, neither executed my judgments, but have done after the manners of the heathen that are round about you.'

19 'I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them;'

27 'And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.'

6 'For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.'  (KJV)

YHWH does NOT change.

YHWH's commands cannot change.

4 'Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.'  (KJV)

Psalms 19:7-8

YHWH's Torah is perfect,

7 'The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.'  (KJV)

8 'The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.'  (KJV)

5 'O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!'  (KJV)

6 'Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.'  (KJV)

34 'Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.'  (KJV)

53 'Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law.'  (KJV)

89 'For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.'  (KJV)

126 'It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law.'  (KJV)

142 'Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.'  (KJV)

151 'Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth.'  (KJV)

155 'Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes.'  (KJV)

160 'Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.'  (KJV)

165 'Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.'  (KJV)

23 'For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:'  (KJV)

Psalm 119:105

17 'Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.'

1 "Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,"  (KJV)

2 "Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread."  (KJV)

3 "But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? "  (KJV)

4 "For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. "  (KJV)

5 "But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; "  (KJV)

6 "And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. "  (KJV)

7 "Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, "  (KJV)

8 "This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. "  (KJV)

9 "But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. "  (KJV)

18 'Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.'

19 'Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.'

Matthew 19:17

Keep the commandments.

17 'And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. '

The Messiah is telling us to keep the commandments.

36  'Master, which is the great commandment in the law?'

37  'Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.'

38  'This is the first and great commandment.'

39  'And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.'

40  'On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.'

20 'But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:'

7 'Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.'

8 'For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.'

9 'And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.'

13 'Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.'

18 'And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.'

19 'Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.'

29 'And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:'

30 'And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.'

31 'And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.'

4 'And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.'

Deuteronomy 8:3

'And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.'

16 'The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.'

17 'And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.'

18 'Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.'

19 'And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.'  (KJV)

20 'Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.'  (KJV)

56 'And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.'  (KJV)

Here, the Sabbath is being celebrated after Christ's death.

50 'And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.'  (KJV)

John 14:15

Keep HIS commandments if we love HIM.

15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.  (KJV)

The Messiah is telling us to keep the commandments if we love HIM.

10 'If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.'  (KJV)

13 'And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:'  (KJV)

14 'For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.'  (KJV)

If someone believes that the law, the temple and the altar sacrifices have been done away with, they believe in the testimony of the FALSE WITNESSES at Stephen’s so called trial. Does your doctrine agree with these false witnesses? If Stephen believes in Torah these people are false witnesses, if he believed like mainstream Christianity, he believed in the testimony of the FALSE WITNESSES. HOW CAN THEY BE FALSE WITNESSES when they claim Jesus said to change with the law, the altar sacrifices and the temple?

14 'But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:'  (KJV)

Isn't Paul saying here that the TeNaKh is still relevant?

Hebrews 10:26-29

People who wilfully sin have fallen from grace.

26 "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,"  (KJV)

27 "But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries."  (KJV)

28 "He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:"  (KJV)

29 "Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?"  (KJV)

12 'Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.  (KJV)'

9 'For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.'  (KJV)

Commandments 7, 6, 8, 9, 10 of the ten commandments.

4 'For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. '

3 'And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.'

4 'He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.'

4 "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law."  (KJV)

22  'And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.'

23  'And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.'

24  'And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.'

2  'By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.'

3  'For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.'

17  'And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.'

12  'Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.'

Jude 1:3

Revelation 22:14

Following the commandments bless us and give us the right to the tree of life.

14  "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city."  (KJV)

Doing the commandments bring us blessings and give us the right to the tree of life and allow us to enter through the gates into the city.

The Two Greatest Commandments

The Messiah spoke of the two GREATEST commandments, NOT the two ONLY commandments.

Where are the Ten Commandments in the Old and New Testaments?

First Commandment

Old Testament:

"You shall have no other gods before Me." (Exodus 20:3)

New Testament:

"You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve." (Matthew 4:10; 1Corinthians 8:6).

Second Commandment

Old Testament:

"You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments." (Exodus 20:4-6)

New Testament:

"Little children, keep yourselves from idols. " (1John 5:21).

"Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising." (Acts 17:29).

Third Commandment

Old Testament:

"You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain." (Exodus 20:7)

New Testament:

" . . . that the name of God and His doctrine may not be blasphemed. " (1Timothy 6:1).

Fourth Commandment

Old Testament:

"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it." (Exodus 20:8-11)

New Testament:

" . . . The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath." (Mark 2:27-28)

"For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: 'And God rested on the seventh day from all His works' . . . For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His." (Hebrews 4:4, 10)

"For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, . . . " (Colossians 1:16).

Fifth Commandment

Old Testament:

"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you." (Exodus 20:12)

New Testament:

"Honor your father and your mother . . . " (Matthew 19:19).

Sixth Commandment

Old Testament:

"You shall not murder." (Exodus 20:13)

New Testament:

"You shall not murder . . . " (Matthew 19:18, Romans 13:9).

Seventh Commandment

Old Testament:

"You shall not commit adultery." (Exodus 20:14)

New Testament:

"You shall not commit adultery . . . " (Matthew 19:18, Romans 13:9).

Eighth Commandment

Old Testament:

"You shall not steal." (Exodus 20:15)

New Testament:

"You shall not steal . . . " (Matthew 19:18, Romans 13:9).

Ninth Commandment

Old Testament:

"You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor." (Exodus 20:16)

New Testament:

"You shall not bear false witness . . . " (Matthew 19:18, Romans 13:9).

Tenth Commandment

Old Testament:

"You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s." (Exodus 20:17)

New Testament:

" . . . For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, 'You shall not covet.' "(Romans 7:7).
