1Chronicles Chapter 1

1Chronicles Chapter 2

1Chronicles Chapter 3

1Chronicles Chapter 4

1Chronicles Chapter 5

1Chronicles 5:1

"26And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgathpilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day." (KJV)

These tribes had decided to stay in the land east of the river Jordan.

1Chronicles Chapter 10

1Chronicles 10:2

"2And the Philistines followed hard after Saul, and after his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul." (KJV)

Abinadab could be Ishul see 1 Samuel 14:49

1Chronicles Chapter 11

1Chronicles 11:11

11And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had; Jashobeam, an Hachmonite, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain by him at one time. (KJV)

...'an Hachmonite'... could be 'son of Hachmoni'

1Chronicles Chapter 18

1Chronicles 18:4

4And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots.(KJV)

It appears that the word hough, in this context, does not mean hamstrung but rather it means gelded.

1Chronicles Chapter 19

1Chronicles Chapter 20

1Chronicles 20:4

4And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines; at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Sippai, that was of the children of the giant: and they were subdued.(KJV)

Who is this giant they are referring to? Is he a desendant of the Nephilim?

1Chronicles 20:5

5And there was war again with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear staff was like a weaver's beam.(KJV)

It appears that Lahmi, the brother of Goliath, was also a giant. Is he a desendant of the Nephilim?

1Chronicles 20:6

6And yet again there was war at Gath, where was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were four and twenty, six on each hand, and six on each foot and he also was the son of the giant.(KJV)

This giant had 6 fingers and 6 toes on his hands and feet.

1Chronicles 20:8

8These were born unto the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.(KJV)

Four of the giant's sons were killed.

1Chronicles Chapter 21

1Chronicles 21:1

1And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.(KJV)

I do not understand what is going on here. Why does Satan want David to number Israel? Why is numbering Israel considered a sin?

1Chronicles 21:5

5And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah was four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword. (KJV)

This adds up to 1,100,000 men of Israel and 470,000 men of Judah for a total of 1,570,000 Hebrew men.
This count does not match the count of 1,300,000 Hebrew men given in 2Samuel 24:9?

1Chronicles 21:25

25So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.(KJV)

This count does not match the cost of 50 shekels of silver written in 2Samuel 24:24?

1Chronicles Chapter 22

1Chronicles 22:8

8But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight. (KJV)

David was told he would not build a house for YHWH but that his son would. Interesting to note that David said it was because he had shed much blood. I wonder if the fact that he committed adultery with Bathsheba and then had her husband Uriah killed had anything to do with it?

1Chronicles Chapter 23

1Chronicles 23:24-27

"" (KJV)

"There was not any fixed age for entering on the office of high-priest, any more than on that of an ordinary priest.  The Talmudists put it down as twenty years.  But the unhappy descendant of the Maccabees, Aristobulus, was only sixteen years of age when his beauty, as he officiated as high-priest in the Temple, roused the jealousy of Herod, and procured his death.  The entrance of the Levites is fixed, in the sacred text, at thirty during the wilderness period, and after that, when the work would require less bodily strength, but a larger number of ministers, at twenty-five years of age." 11

11 - It is thus we reconcile Num. 4:3 with Num. 8:24-25.  In point of fact, these two reasons are expressly mentioned in 1 Chron. 23:24-27, as influencing David still further to lower the age of entrance to twenty.

1Chronicles Chapter 24

1Chronicles Chapter 25

1Chronicles Chapter 26

1Chronicles Chapter 27

1Chronicles Chapter 28

1Chronicles 28:6-7

6And he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.

7Moreover I will establish his kingdom for ever, if he be constant to do my commandments and my judgments, as at this day.(KJV)

YHWH told David that his son Solomon, would build a house for HIM. He also made a CONDITIONAL promise of an eternal kingdom IF Solomon obeyed HIS commandments and judgements. Solomon failed to do this so this promise is null and void.

Interesting to note that YHWH knows the beginning from the end so why did HE make this promise to David since HE knew Solomon would not be obedient? Perhaps YHWH did not want to tell David that his son, Solomon, would fall away from obedience.
