1st Kings Chapter 1

Adonijah seeks to be king
Solomon anointed king

1Kings 1

1st Kings Chapter 2

David's last words and death
Adonijah asks for Abishag
Joab is killed

1Kings 2:4

4That the LORD may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.(KJV)

A conditional promise.

1Kings 2:27

27So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest unto the LORD; that he might fulfil the word of the LORD, which he spake concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.(KJV)

This is a prophecy being fulfilled.

1st Kings Chapter 3

Prayer for wisdom is granted
Solomon's wise decision

1Kings 3:3

3And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.(KJV)

Solomon walked in the statutes of his father David and not in the statutes of YHWH.

1Kings 3:8

8And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. (KJV)

This verse implies that the covenant promise that YHWH made to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3 has been fulfilled through the kingdoms of David and Solomon. I am unaware of any scripture that states this great nation will endure forever. Since the Hebrews were exiled from the land by the Asyrians and Babylonians, I do not think that modern day Jews or Israelis can claim to once again be this great nation. I will need to verify this theory with what is written in Deuteronomy 26:5 and Galatians 3:16.

1st Kings Chapter 4

Appointment of court officials

1Kings 4

1st Kings Chapter 5

Solomon's great wisdom

1Kings 5

1st Kings Chapter 6

Describing the temple
The palace buildings
Solomon builds the temple.

1Kings 6:1

1And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.(KJV)

Solomon began building the temple 480 years after the children of Israel came out of Egypt in the 2nd month of the year.
The second month of the year is called Zif.

1Kings 6:7

7And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.(KJV)

1Kings 6:12

12Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:(KJV)

A conditional promise.

1st Kings Chapter 7

The temple furnishings

1Kings 7:8

8And his house where he dwelt had another court within the porch, which was of the like work. Solomon made also an house for Pharaoh's daughter, whom he had taken to wife, like unto this porch.(KJV)

At this point, Solomon had married a daughter of the Pharoah.

1Kings 7:9

9All these were of costly stones, according to the measures of hewed stones, sawed with saws, within and without, even from the foundation unto the coping, and so on the outside toward the great court.(KJV)

The stones were sawed???

1Kings 7:13

13And king Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of Tyre.(KJV)

In 2Chronicles 4:11
, Hirum is called Hurum.

1Kings 7:21

21And he set up the pillars in the porch of the temple: and he set up the right pillar, and called the name thereof Jachin: and he set up the left pillar, and called the name thereof Boaz. (KJV)

The pillars of Jachin and Boaz. I wonder why he chose to name the pillars?
Freemasons make a big deal about these two pillars also.

1st Kings Chapter 8

The ark moved
Solomon's prayer
The offering and the feast
Solomon dedicates the temple.

1Kings 8:9

9There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt. (KJV)

The covenant with the children of Israel was in the arc of the covenant.

1Kings 8:10

10And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD,

11So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.(KJV)

The cloud filled the temple after it was built.

1Kings 8:46

46If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near;(KJV)

According to King Solomon, all men sin.

1Kings 8:47-48

47Yet if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they were carried captives, and repent, and make supplication unto thee in the land of them that carried them captives, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness;

48And so return unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away captive, and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name:(KJV)

It seems that king Solomon is almost prophesying the upcoming exile by the Assyrians and Babylonians.

1Kings 8:53

53For thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by the hand of Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O LORD God.(KJV)

The promise to Moses was a conditional promise, which the children of Israel broke. The children of Israel were driven out of the land by YHWH during the Assyrian and Babylonian exiles. They were driven out of the land for the evil they were doing at that time.

According to Isaiah 19:23-25, in the end of days, Egypt will be recognized as HIS people, and Assyria will be recognized as the work of HIS hands and, Israel will be HIS inheritance. At that time, all three will be blessed.

People seem to fixated on Israel as being the most important but that belief does not seem to be an accurate assessment of the relationship that YHWH has will ALL the people of the earth.

1st Kings Chapter 9

The covenant with Solomon
Solomon's accomplishments

1Kings 9:2

YHWH appears before Solomon.

1Kings 9:3

And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.(KJV)

YHWH states that HE has chosen to put HIS name in the Temple in Jerusalem.

1Kings 9:4

"4And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments: " (KJV)

IF being the operative word here.

1Kings 9:5

"5Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel. " (KJV)

IF THEN being the operative words here.

1Kings 9:6

"6But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them: " (KJV)

BUT being the operative word here. This means there is a condition.

1Kings 9:7

"7Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people: " (KJV)

THEN the consequence for disobedience.

1Kings 9:11

11(Now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire,) that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.(KJV)

In 2Chronicles 8:2 Hiram is written as Huram.

1Kings 9:21

"21Their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel also were not able utterly to destroy, upon those did Solomon levy a tribute of bondservice unto this day." (KJV)

Why?

1Kings 9:22

"22But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no bondmen: but they were men of war, and his servants, and his princes, and his captains, and rulers of his chariots, and his horsemen." (KJV)

So only the Israeli's could make war?

1st Kings Chapter 10

The queen of Sheba visits Solomon.

1Kings 10:14

14Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold, (KJV)

666

1Kings 10:16

16And king Solomon made two hundred targets of beaten gold: six hundred shekels of gold went to one target.

17And he made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three pound of gold went to one shield: and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.(KJV)

According to the Strong's concordance, targets translates to shields (tsinnah - H6793). This doesn't make sense when, in verse 17, they used the word shield instead of target.

1st Kings Chapter 11

Solomon takes foreign wives
Solomon's adversaries
Jeroboam's rebellion

This chapter details where Solomon went wrong with the multiple wives he had. It also details the false gods he was corrupted with and how the 12 tribes would be split up. Jeroboam flees into Egypt until the death of Solomon.

1Kings 11:1

1But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites: (KJV)

Translation Difference

"1And Sovereign Shelomoh loved many foreign women in addition to the daughter of Pharaoh: Mo'abite, Ammonite, Edomite, Tsidonian, and Hittite women;" (The ISR Scriptures)

"1But melech Shlomo loved many strange 894 women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moavites, Ammonites, Edomites, Tzidonians, and Hittites;" (The Restoration Scriptures)

894 - Strangers to Torah.

"1Now King Solomon loved many foreign women along with the daughter of Pharaoh:Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian, and Hittite women,"(Interlinear 1st Kings)

1Kings 11:3

3And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.(KJV)

1Kings 11:5

5For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.(KJV)

Milcom is called Molech in verse 7.

1Kings 11:6

6And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.(KJV)

Translation Difference

"6Thus Shelomoh did evil in the eyes of YHWH, and did not follow YHWH completely, like his father Dawid." (The ISR Scriptures)

"6And Shlomo did evil in the sight of YHWH, and did not follow after YHWH fully, as did Dawid his abba." (The Restoration Scriptures)

"6Solomon did what was evil in the sight of YHWH, and did not follow YHWH fully, as David his father had done."(Interlinear 1st Kings)

Solomon does evil in the sight of YHWH.

1Kings 11:11

11Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant. (KJV)

Translation Difference

"11And YHWH said to Shelomoh, "Because you have done this, and have not guarded My covenant and My laws, which I have commanded you, I shall certainly tear the reign away from you and give it to your servant." (The ISR Scriptures)

"11And YHWH said to Shlomo, Seeing that this is done by you, and you have not kept My brit and My chukim, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the malchut from you, and will give it to your eved. 895" (The Restoration Scriptures)

895 - As punishment for Solomon's mixed worship the House of Dawid, or the 12 tribes, would be divided into two houses with ten tribes going to his servant.

YHWH said he will rip the Kingdom from Solomon (just as he did after the death of Saul with the Phillistines).

1Kings 11:12

12Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.(KJV)

YHWH said he would do it to Solomon's son.

1Kings 11:13

13Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen. (KJV)

YHWH said he give one tribe to Solomon's son (Jeroboam) for David's sake.

1Kings 11:11-13

YHWH tells Solomon he will rend his Kingdom.
The prophet Ahijah rips it into twelve pieces.
Ten for Jeroboam.
One for Rehoboam (to keep a Kingdom always under the line of David).

1Kings 11:17

Rayoboam to rule over the house of Judah.

1Kings 11:25

25And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that Hadad did: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.(KJV)

This verse would seem to be referring to Israel the nation.

1Kings 11:26

26And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon's servant, whose mother's name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.(KJV)

Jeroboam to rule the ten northern tribes.
Rehoboam was Solomon's son and rightful heir to the throne of the twelve tribes.
Jeroboam was the son of Nebat.

1Kings 11:29

29And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:(KJV)

Jeroboam meets Ahijay the prophet.

1Kings 11:30-31

30And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:

31And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:(KJV)

The prophet Ahijah gives ten tribes to Jeroboam to rule.

1Kings 11:34

'34Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant's sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:'(KJV)

The prophet Ahijah lets Solomon keep a tribe for David's sake.

1Kings 11:36

'36And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.'(KJV)

The prophet Ahijah gives one tribe to Rehoboam to rule so that David would always have a son ruling over Israel.

1Kings 11:41-43

41And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?(KJV)

What and where is the Book of the Acts of Solomon?

42And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.(KJV)

Solomon reigned for 40 years.

43And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.(KJV)

Solomon dies and is buried in the city of David.
His son Rehoboam begins his reign.

1st Kings Chapter 12

Rehoboam's reign
Two golden calves

1Kings 12:2

2And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard of it, (for he was fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt;) (KJV)

Jeroboam was still hiding out in Egypt when Rehoboam was going to become King.

1Kings 12:3-4

3That they sent and called him. And Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spake unto Rehoboam, saying,

4Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.(KJV)

Jeroboam and all of Israel came to Rehoboam asking him to lighten the burden that Solomon had put upon them.

1Kings 12:7

7And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever. (KJV)

The advisors of King Solomon advised Rehoboam to be a fair king and serve his people and in turn, the people would serve him forever.

1Kings 12:8

8But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him: (KJV)

Rehoboam ignored the counsil of his father's (King Solomon) advisors and consulted his friends.

1Kings 12:11

11And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions. (KJV)

Rehoboam's friends advised him to be crueler than his father was.

1Kings 12:15-16

15Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spake by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

16So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents. (KJV)

This is a fulfillment of prophecy by Ahijay the Shilonite.
The 10 northern tribes rejected Rehoboam as king because he was cruel.

1Kings 12:17

17But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them. (KJV)

Rehoboam ruled over the house of Judah. The tribe of Judah served Rehoboam as King.

1Kings 12:19

19So Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day. (KJV)

Israel (the 10 northern tribes) rejected Rehoboam as King.

1Kings 12:20

20And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was come again, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only. (KJV)

The 10 northern tribes made Jeroboam their King.
What happened to the tribe of Benjamin and the tribe of Levi?

1Kings 12:22

22But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,(KJV)

Interesting that they call Shemiah a 'man of God' and not a prophet?

1Kings 12:24

Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. They hearkened therefore to the word of the LORD, and returned to depart, according to the word of the LORD. (KJV)

Rehoboam tries to reunite the twelve tribes by force but YHWH tells him not to. YHWH makes it clear that Israel's Kingdom was torn in two by the Almighty Himself. YHWH tells Rehoboam not to fight against the children of Israel because He caused this rebellion for His purpose.

1Kings 12:26-33

Jeroboam becomes paranoid that the ten Northern tribes will return to the house of David (even under Rehoboam) and profanes against YHWH by building two golden calves to worship and changing the feasts.

This is two times worse than what Aaron did at the base of Mount Sinai as described in the book of Exodus Chapter 32.

1Kings 12:28-33

28Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.(KJV)

Big mistake!

29And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan.

30And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan.

31And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi.

He profaned the priesthood!

32And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made.

He profaned the feast days!

1st Kings Chapter 13

1Kings 13

The man of God from Judah
Jeroboam is visited by a man of YHWH with a prophecy.

1Kings 13:1

1And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the LORD unto Bethel: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense.

I wonder why he is called a man of God and not a prophet?

1Kings 13:2

2And he cried against the altar in the word of the LORD, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the LORD; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men's bones shall be burnt upon thee.

This is a prophecy that will be fulfilled in 2Kings chapter 23

1st Kings Chapter 14

1Kings 14

Ahijah's prophecy
Rehoboam, king of Judah

1Kings 14:1

1At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick. (KJV)

The son of Jeroboam gets sick.

1Kings 14:2

2And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, which told me that I should be king over this people. (KJV)

Jeroboam tells his wife to disguise herself and visit Ahijah the prophet to ask what will become of their son.

1Kings 14:6-16

Ahijah tells Jeroboam's wife that the child will die and that Jeroboam will also be destroyed for the sins that he committed.

1Kings 14:17

17And Jeroboam's wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah: and when she came to the threshold of the door, the child died; (KJV)

Jeroboam's child dies.

1Kings 14:20

20And the days which Jeroboam reigned were two and twenty years: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his stead. (KJV)

Jeroboam reigned for 22 years.

1Kings 14:21

21And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD did choose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess. (KJV)

Raehobaom reigned for 17 years.
This verse states that Jerusalem is the city which YHWH chose to put HIS name.
Rehoboam's mother's name was Naamah and she was an Ammonitess. She was of the house of Ammon who was of the house of Lot.

1Kings 14:22-24

Judah did evil in the sight of YHWH and this verse details some of their transgressions.
This verse is saying that Judah did evil. That would mean either the house of Judah or the land of Judea.

1Kings 14:31

31And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess. And Abijam his son reigned in his stead. (KJV)

This is the second verse that says Rehoboam's mother's name was Naamah and she was an Ammonitess. There seems to be some significance to this fact.

1st Kings Chapter 15

Abijam, king of Judah
Asa, king of Judah

1Kings 15:5

5Because David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and turned not aside from any thing that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.(KJV)

Interesting to note that the one transgression this verse relates to David was caused by David's lust after a married woman.

1Kings 15:8

8And Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead.(KJV)

Abijam dies and his son Asa becomes king of Judah.

1Kings 15:23

23The rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? Nevertheless in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.(KJV)

Did Asa have gout?

1Kings 15:24

24And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.(KJV)

Asa dies and Jehoshaphat becomes king of Judah

1Kings 15:25

25And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned over Israel two years.(KJV)

Nadab becomes king of Israel in the 2nd year of Asa king of Judah.

1Kings 15:27-29

27And Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel laid siege to Gibbethon.

28Even in the third year of Asa king of Judah did Baasha slay him, and reigned in his stead.

29And it came to pass, when he reigned, that he smote all the house of Jeroboam; he left not to Jeroboam any that breathed, until he had destroyed him, according unto the saying of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite:(KJV)

Baasha kills Nadab and becomes king of Israel. This was a fulfillment of a prophecy by Ahijah.

1st Kings Chapter 16

Elah, king of Israel
Zimri, king of Israel

1Kings 16:6

6So Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah: and Elah his son reigned in his stead.(KJV)

Baasha dies and his son Elah becomes king of Israel.

1Kings 16:8

8In the twenty and sixth year of Asa king of Judah began Elah the son of Baasha to reign over Israel in Tirzah, two years.(KJV)

In the 26th year of Asa (king of Judah), Elah beomes king of Israel.

1Kings 16:9-12

9And his servant Zimri, captain of half his chariots, conspired against him, as he was in Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza steward of his house in Tirzah.

10And Zimri went in and smote him, and killed him, in the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his stead.

11And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he slew all the house of Baasha: he left him not one that pisseth against a wall, neither of his kinsfolks, nor of his friends.

12Thus did Zimri destroy all the house of Baasha, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake against Baasha by Jehu the prophet.

13For all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, by which they sinned, and by which they made Israel to sin, in provoking the LORD God of Israel to anger with their vanities.(KJV)

Zimri conspired against Elah and killed Elah when Elah was drunk.
Zimri became king of Israel.
Zimri killed everyone in the house of Baasha.
This was a fulfillment of prophesy by Jehu the prophet.
This was retribution for the sins of of Baasha and his son, Elah, who caused the house of Israel to sin.

1Kings 16:15

15In the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah did Zimri reign seven days in Tirzah. And the people were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines.(KJV)

In the 27th year of Asa (king of Judah), Zimri beomes king of Israel for 7 days.

1Kings 16:16

16And the people that were encamped heard say, Zimri hath conspired, and hath also slain the king: wherefore all Israel made Omri, the captain of the host, king over Israel that day in the camp.(KJV)

When the people heard that Zimri had conspired against, and killed, Elah they chose Omri to be their king and to overthrow Zimri.

1Kings 16:18

18And it came to pass, when Zimri saw that the city was taken, that he went into the palace of the king's house, and burnt the king's house over him with fire, and died.(KJV)

When Zimri realized that Omri was coming to overthrow him, he committed suicide.

1Kings 16:20

20Now the rest of the acts of Zimri, and his treason that he wrought, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?(KJV)

Zimri's conspiracy against Elah was considered treason.

1Kings 16:23

23In the thirty and first year of Asa king of Judah began Omri to reign over Israel, twelve years: six years reigned he in Tirzah.(KJV)

In the 31st year of Asa (king of Judah), Omri became king of Israel and he reigned for 12 years.

1Kings 16:29

29And in the thirty and eighth year of Asa king of Judah began Ahab the son of Omri to reign over Israel: and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty and two years.(KJV)

In the 38th year of Asa (king of Israel), Ahab (son of Omri) begins to rule over the house of Israel.

1Kings 16:31-33

31And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.(KJV)

The first principle operating in Ahab was that he considered the things of Yahweh as trivial. He looked on the sins of Jeroboam as trivial.
Another factor operating in Ahab was his marriage to Jezebel, princess of the Zidonians, who were all heathens and demon worshippers. Ahab knew the prohibitions against such marriages to heathens. By this he showed his low esteem for the institution of marriage and the commandments of Yahweh. It is very likely that Ahab married for convenience, lust, and political advantage.

32And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria.(KJV)

Ahab built an altar in Baal's temple which he had built in Samaria.

33And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.

Ahab did more to anger YHWH than all the kings before him.

1Kings 16:34

In his days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun. (KJV)

This is a fulfillment of prophesy

Israel came in to reoccupy Canaan, the first city destroyed was Jericho. Joshua pronounced a curse on it that whosoever laid the foundations of the city would cause his firstborn to die and whoever lifted up the gates thereof would cause his second born to die.

This verse mentions Hiel/Hi'ĕl the Bethelite and does not mention a tribal affliation. Does this mean Hiel/Hi'ĕl was not a Hebrew?

1st Kings Chapter 17

Elijah fed by ravens

The story of Elijah and the widow woman of Zidon who fed him. There were at least three miracles done in this chapter.

1Kings 17:6

22And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived. (KJV)

This was fulfillment of YHWH's word from verse 4.

1Kings 17:11

11And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.(KJV)

15And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.(KJV)

16And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.(KJV)

This was fulfillment of YHWH's word through the prophet from verse 14.

1Kings 17:22

6And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.(KJV)

Elijah called upon YHWH to bring the widow's son back to life.

1Kings 18:4

4For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water. (KJV)

Jezebel/Izebel cut off the prophets
ToDO: I need to link this event to the Scripture verse that describes it.

1Kings 18:12-13

12And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of the LORD shall carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall slay me: but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth. (KJV)

Obadiah/Obadyahu knew that king Ahab/Ahab would kill him if he said he had spoken to Elijah/Ĕliyahu but failed to deliver Elijah/Ĕliyahu to him.

13Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid an hundred men of the LORD's prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water? (KJV)

Jezebel/Izebel cut off the prophets
ToDO: I need to link this event to the Scripture verse that describes it.

1Kings 18:28

28And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them. (KJV)

This seems to be a pagan custom that is forbidden in the books of Leviticus 19:28 & Deuteronomy 14:1.

1Kings 18:29

29And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded. (KJV)

Is this verse referring to the evening oblation?

1Kings 18:43

43And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. (KJV)

I wonder why he had to go seven times?

45And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel. (KJV)

Like a small pouting child, he went to bed, refusing to eat.

1Kings 21:10

10And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die. (KJV)

'Sons of Belial means worthless or wicked men.'

1Kings 21:20-26

20And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

21Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,

22And will make thine house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin.

23And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.

24Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.

25But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.

26And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as did the Amorites, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel. (KJV)

The prophesy of Elijah to Ahab.

1Kings 21:29

29Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house. (KJV)

Interesting. Since Ahab humbled himself, YHWH spared him his wrath!
