The Book of 1 Peter/1 Kepha

1 Peter 1:1

1Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,(KJV)

In this letter, Peter/Kĕpha is writing to the diaspora, the dispersed tribes of Israel, NOT to the Gentiles.  (James 1:1)

1 Peter 1:2

2Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.(KJV)

Refers to the ritual of the red-heifer (Numbers 19). The ceremony of the red heifer is used to cleanse the high priest.

1 Peter 1:20

"20Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you," (KJV)

This refers to the Messiah being known before the foundation of the world. This meant that YHWH knew that the Messiah would die for our sins before any of the covenants were established.

1 Peter 2:9

"9But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;" (KJV)

The Chosen People (Why did YHWH choose the Hebrews?)

1 Peter 2:25

"25For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls." (KJV)

Translation Difference

"25For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your beings." (The ISR Scriptures)

Why did the KJV use the word Bishop?

1 Peter 3:20

"20Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water." (KJV)

Only eight (8) people survived the great flood.

1 Peter 4:14

"14If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified." (KJV)

Translation Difference

In the second part of First Peter 4:14, how do [they] speak of Christ?  And, what do Christians do?

Christ/Messiah

God/Elohim

1 Peter 4:16

Acts 11:26 is the first mention of the word "Christian".  The only other two places are Acts 26:28 and 1 Peter 4:16
