The Book of Galatians/Galutyah

Galatians 1:14

'14And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.' (KJV)

Translation Difference

'And profited in religion above many equals in own nation, being exceedingly zealous traditions my fathers.' (literal translation)

It seems to me the literal translation got embellished a bit in the KJV.

Galatians 3:6

"Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." (KJV)

Translation Difference

"Even so Abraham "did believe Elohim, and it was reckoned unto him as righteousness."" (The ISR Scriptures)

"Even as Avraham believed YHWH, and it was counted to him for tzedakah. 6021" (The Restoration Scriptures)

6021 - Justification and righteousness can only come by faith alone.

Galatians 3:12

"12And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them." (KJV)

This verse is referring to the Covenant of Promise given to Abraham

Galatians 3:15

"15Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto." (KJV)

Covenants are forever and cannot be done away with.

Galatians 3:16

"16Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ." (KJV)

Genesis 12:7

Genesis 15:18 - The covenant is made.

Genesis 17

Genesis 24:7 - Abraham/Abrahim recalls YHWH's words as he is sending his servant out to find a bride for his son Isaac/Yitshaq.

Genesis 26:4 - YHWH is telling Isaac/Yitshaq to go to Egypt and recalls the promise HE made with Isaac/Yitshaq's father Abraham/Abrahim. The reason why YHWH favored Abraham/Abrahim was 'Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.' (KJV)

Genesis 48:4 - Isaac/Yitshaq is on his death bed and recalling to Joseph, the promise YHWH made with his father Abraham/Abrahim, Joseph's grandfather.

Exodus 32:13 - YHWH is ready to destroy the Hebrews for worshipping a golden calf and Moses/Mosheh is reminding HIM of the promise he made to Abraham/Abrahim.

Exodus 33:1 - As the Hebrews are preparing to enter the land of Canaan, YHWH tells Mosheh He is giving him the land He swore unto Abraham/Abrahim, Isaac/Yitshaq and Jacob/Ya'aqob

Deuteronomy 34:4 - From the top of Pisgah/Pisgah in the mountains of Nebo/Nebo and just before Moses/Mosheh's death, YHWH is showing Moses/Mosheh's the promised land and recalling the promise HE made to Abraham/Abrahim, Isaac/Yitshaq and Jacob/Ya'aqob.

Galatians 3:17

"17And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect." (KJV)

Translation Difference

'Now this I say, Torah, that came four hundred and thirty years later, does not annul a covenant previously confirmed by Elohim in Messiah, so as to do away with the promise.'   (The ISR Scriptures)

'And this I say, that the Brit, that was confirmed by YHWH through Moshiach, the Torah, 6035 that came four hundred and thirty years later, cannot nullify the Avrahamic brit, so that it should make the promise of no effect. 6036'   (The Restoration Scriptures)

6035 - The Messiah, or YHWH’s brought-forth Word, is the actual giver of the Torah and not the Father YHWH who was the source.

6036 - The same principle must be applied to all covenants. A newer one never annuls a prior one.  That would have to mean that just as Torah never negated the Abrahamic Covenant, neither does the Renewed Covenant annul the Torah.

'And this I say, that the covenant which was previously confirmed by Elohim in Messiah cannot be repudiated and the promise nullified by the (Levitical) Law that came four hundred and thirty years later.'   (Hebraic Roots Bible)

'What I am saying is this: the Law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by the Elohim, so as to nullify the promise.'   (Interlinear Galatians)

This verse is referring to the Covenant of Promise given to Abraham

Galatians 3:18

"18For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise." (KJV)

This verse is referring to the Covenant of Promise given to Abraham

Galatians 3:19

"19Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator." (KJV)

Exodus 32:19

Exodus 32:26

The law could not have been added because of transgressions because:

  • The law defines transgressions (1 John 3:4).

  • Without the law, their can be no transgression (Romans 4:15).

  • Without the law, sin is not known (Romans 7:7).

The thing that was added was the Levitical priesthood because of the sin of the golden calf.

UNDERSTANDING GALATIANS: THE LAW WAS ADDED ... Teaching by Eddie Chumney

The law could not have been added because of transgressions because the law defines transgressions (1 John 3:4).  Without the law, their can be no transgression.  The thing that was added was the Levitical priesthood because of the sin of the golden calf.

Translation Difference

"Why, then, the Torah? It was added because of transgressions, until the Seed should come to whom the promise was made. And it was ordained through messengers in the hand of a mediator." (The ISR Scriptures)

'What purpose then does the Torah serve? It was added because of transgressions, 6037 until the Zera should come to whom the promise was made; and heavenly malachim through the hands of a Mediator ordained it. 6038' (The Restoration Scriptures)

6037 - Because of man's apostasy, so that man could clearly see what he has done wrong and why. It was added to make the need for a personal redeemer clearer.

6038 - The Mediator was and remains Yahshua, for First Timothy 2:5 teaches us that there is only one eternal Mediator between man and YHWH. Yahshua is the Mediator for Yisrael in both the First and the Renewed Covenant.

"Why then the (Levitical) Law? It was placed beside (the Torah) for the sake of transgressions, until the Seed should come, to whom it had been promised, being given by promise in a mediator's hand. 2" (Hebraic Roots Bible)

2 - Paul cannot possibly be talking about the whole Torah here, as he plainly states that whatever law was added, that it was not there 430 years previously when Yahweh made covenant with Abraham, but Gen 26:4-5 clearly shows that the reason Yahweh made covenant with Abraham was because Abraham obeyed and preserved His statutes, commandments, and Torah. The only law that was added to the Torah at Mount Sinai was the Levitical priesthood with its sacrifices, which was temporarily set next to the Torah for the Levitical priesthood to be a temporary mediator for Israel until the reality of the Melchezidec priesthood would come through Yahshua. The Levitical sacrifices could not take away the penalty of sin, but merely remind them of it.

Galatians 3:28

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 3:29

And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Galatians 4:1

Galatians 5:18

"But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law." (KJV)

Galatians 5:18  (WWW.THEBEREAN.ORG)
