INTRODUCTION:

Frequently I hear people say that the Jews are the chosen people and therefore we must support them in all that they do. I think this is a false belief and I cannot find Scripture to support such a notion.  It appears that at least part of the problem is that we really do not know who or what the words Jew or Jewish mean.  While the popular misconception is that they are descendent of the children of Israel (i.e. the twelve (12) tribes), a good deal of evidence is coming forth to challenge that notion and it seems entirely possible that the words Jew and Jewish indicate nothing more than a religious and nationalistic belief.  This idea is outside the scope of this topic so to avoid confusion I have lumped the words Israelite, Israeli, Jew and Jewish together were applicable.  Furhter information on this topic can be found at The Etymology of Jew & Jews

I think the fundamental problem with such a statement is that we seldom examine the term 'chosen people' to see what that moniker means. The Hebrew people were not chosen because they were better than any other class of people on the planet.  In fact, they were specifically chosen because they were the least of people on the planet at that time (Deuteronomy 7:7). The Hebrew people were chosen by YHWH to perform a task.  That task was to be a light to the rest of the world and to lead the nations of the earth to our Heavenly Father through the Torah.

While the Hebrews are the chosen people of YHWH, they are held to the same Torah as the rest of the world.  When they transgress the Torah they will be punished just as severely, if not more so, than the rest of the world because they are YHWH's chosen people.

YHWH told the children of Israel that if they refused to obey HIM they would be punished and they were. (Leviticus 26:14-39)  YHWH also said they would be the scorn of all nations.  What I have yet to find is a reference that says this punishement will end before the return of the Messiah. YHWH clearly says HE will protect HIS people from utter destruction (Leviticus 26:44) but at the same time HE clearly says they will be brought under the rod.

Another point of fact that many people fail to notice is that a great number of the promises of YHWH were conditional.  YHWH said IF you do what I command, THEN I will do such and such.  When the children of Israel did NOT do what YHWH commanded, they were punished.

If the Hebrew people (or anyone else for that matter) continue to disobey our Heavenly Father they cannot expect to receive the blessings(s).

Listed below are Scriptures that detail what the Hebrews were "chosen" for and to document the transgressions of the Hebrews and YHWH's displeasure at what they are doing.

Since I have also encountered a large contingent of Christians who feel that YHWH has abandoned HIS chosen people, I have also included references to HIS eternal promises and covenants with the Hebrew people.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:

3'Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way.'

4'And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.'

5'For the LORD had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee.'

YHWH would not walk with them into the land because they were stubborn and stiff necked.

55"For unto me the children of Israel are servants; they are my servants whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God." (KJV)

The children of Israel are servants

26"And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying," (KJV)

27"How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me." (KJV)

28"Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:" (KJV)

29"Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward which have murmured against me." (KJV)

30"Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun." (KJV)

31"But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised." (KJV)

32"But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness." (KJV)

33"And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness." (KJV)

34"After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise." (KJV)

35"I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die." (KJV)

36"And the men, which Moses sent to search the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up a slander upon the land," (KJV)

37"Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD." (KJV)

38"But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still." (KJV)

39"And Moses told these sayings unto all the children of Israel: and the people mourned greatly." (KJV)

40"And they rose up early in the morning, and gat them up into the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we be here, and will go up unto the place which the LORD hath promised: for we have sinned." (KJV)

41"And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the LORD? but it shall not prosper." (KJV)

42"Go not up, for the LORD is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies." (KJV)

43"For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you." (KJV)

44"But they presumed to go up unto the hill top: nevertheless the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and Moses, departed not out of the camp." (KJV)

45"Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hill, and smote them, and discomfited them, even unto Hormah." (KJV)

This is a very important lesson for today. The Jews claim that they are returning to the land and can now drive out the Caanites as they were instructed to do back in the days of Moses. This story clearly shows that if you do not do what YHWH wants you to do when HE wants you to do it and HE pronounces judgement (like HE did to the house of Israel AND the house of Judah) then you cannot go back and obey on your own terms.

Deuteronomy 1:43-45

1'And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab.'  (KJV)

2'And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods.'  (KJV)

3'And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel.'  (KJV)

4'And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.'  (KJV)

5'And Moses said unto the judges of Israel, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baalpeor.'  (KJV)

6'And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.'  (KJV)

7'And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand;'  (KJV)

8'And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.'  (KJV)

9'And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand.'  (KJV)

The children of Israel committed whoredom with the daughters of Moab and YHWH killed 24,000 of them with a plague.

43'So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill.' (KJV)

44'And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.' (KJV)

45'And ye returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.' (KJV)

This is how YHWH handles direct disobedience.

Numbers 14:39-45

4'Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.' (KJV)

5'Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.' (KJV)

6'Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.' (KJV)

7'Remember, and forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.' (KJV)

8'Also in Horeb ye provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you.' (KJV)

Moses tells the people never to forget that they were NOT given the land because they were righteous but rather because of the wickedness of the people living in the land.

24'Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.' (KJV)

The entire chapter talks about the blessings and the curses.

16'And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.'

YHWH certainly predicted this one correctly.

17'Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?'

YHWH certainly predicted this one correctly.

18'And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.'

The people brought this misery upon themselves.

19'Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.'

YHWH wrote a song that would be a witness against the children of Israel.

20'For when I shall have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxen fat; then will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant.'

YHWH certainly predicted this one correctly. The people broke his covenant.

21'And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I sware.'

YHWH knew what the people would do in the future.

27'For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death? '

Moses certainly predicted this one correctly.

29'For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.'

Moses certainly predicted this one correctly.

4"And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:" (KJV)

5"Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel." (KJV)

6"But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them: " (KJV)

7"Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people: " (KJV)

This is a conditional promise and it appears that the children of Israel received the second option which was to be cast out of HIS sight.

2'And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.'

This verse is referring to King Hoshea/Hoshĕa son of Elah/ĕlah who reigned in Samaria.

These verses tell what the children of Israel did wrong.

15'And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, thatthey should not do like them.'

19'Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.'

20'And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.'

4'Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

15'And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. '

YHWH does not listen to killers.

21'How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.'

Isaiah is not speaking well of Jerusalem.

6'I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;'

The Hebrews were chosen to be a light for the Gentiles.

22'But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.'

The people have rejected YHWH.

12'Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.'

13'Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.'

14'Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:'

15'And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.'

YHWH is telling the people if they will admit their sins and repent he will take them back.

6'If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt: '

7'Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever. '

Sounds conditional to me.  Especially the part about not shedding innocent blood.

25'Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised; '

26'Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart.'

Judah & Israel will NOT be spared punishment.

10'They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers. '

11'Then said the LORD unto me, Pray not for this people for their good. '

7" And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people since they return not from their ways." (KJV)

5"For thus saith the LORD, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith the LORD, even lovingkindness and mercies." (KJV)

YHWH has taken away HIS peace, lovingkindness and mercies

1"The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and with the point of a diamond: it is graven upon the table of their heart, and upon the horns of your altars;"  (KJV)

8'And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?'

9'Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.'

15"Shalt thou reign, because thou closest thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him?" (KJV)

16"He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not this to know me? saith the LORD." (KJV)

17"But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it." (KJV)

39'Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and I will forsake you, and the city that I gave you and your fathers, and cast you out of my presence: '

40'And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten.'

5'Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good.'

6'For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.'

7'And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.'

YHWH will do good to the good figs.

8'And as the evil figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so evil; surely thus saith the LORD, So will I give Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt:'

9'And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them.'

10'And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.'

YHWH will do bad things to the evil figs.

2'Thus saith the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD's house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD's house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word:

3'If so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings.

4'And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; If ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you,

5'To hearken to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I sent unto you, both rising up early, and sending them, but ye have not hearkened;

6'Then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth. '

18'Micah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.'

11'For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet I will not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.'

Spare the rod, spoil the child.  All nations will end but YHWH's people will be 'corrected' also.

15'Why criest thou for thine affliction? thy sorrow is incurable for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee.'

No use crying when you've brought the problem on yourself.

11'For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet I will not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.'

31'Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:'

A new covenant

32'Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:'

YHWH's people broke the original covenant.

33'But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.'

YHWH will write his new covenant in our hearts.

34'And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. '

36'If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.'

Sounds pretty important to me.

37'Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.'

Interesting

23'And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them:

30"For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD." (KJV)

31"For this city hath been to me as a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face," (KJV)

32"Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem." (KJV)

34'But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it.

35'And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

Ba'al & Molek

8'And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.' (KJV)

16'But ye turned and polluted my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom he had set at liberty at their pleasure, to return, and brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids.

17'Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ye have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the LORD, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.

9'Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?' (KJV)

10'They are not humbled even unto this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.' (KJV)

11'Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.' (KJV)

3'And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day.'

Rebellious, Transgressed

4'For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD.'

Impudent, Stiffhearted

5'And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.'

Rebellious

6'And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.'

Rebellious

7'And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious.'

Rebellious

8'But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.'

Rebellious house

4"And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them." (KJV)

5"For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel;" (KJV)

6"Not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee." (KJV)

7"But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted." (KJV)

All the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted

9'As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.'

they be a rebellious house

27'But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.'

they be a rebellious house

5'And I will lay the dead carcases of the children of Israel before their idols; and I will scatter your bones round about your altars.'

9'And they that escape of you shall remember me among the nations whither they shall be carried captives, because I am broken with their whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which go a whoring after their idols: and they shall lothe themselves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations.'

11'Thus saith the Lord GOD; Smite with thine hand, and stamp with thy foot, and ay, Alas for all the evil abominations of the house of Israel! for they shall fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence.'

This entire chapter lists abominations done by the children of Israel to the House of YHWH

14'Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD's house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.'

TAMMUZ

4'And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.' (KJV)

YHWH marked the men he was going to save.

5'And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity:' (KJV)

6'Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.' (KJV)

YHWH told the angel to spare the men with HIS mark.

7'And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and slew in the city.' (KJV)

5'And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the LORD; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.'

6'Ye have multiplied your slain in this city, and ye have filled the streets thereof with the slain.'

10'Ye shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the border of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.'

11'This city shall not be your caldron, neither shall ye be the flesh in the midst thereof; but I will judge you in the border of Israel:'

11'And ye shall know that I am the LORD: for ye have not walked in my statutes, neither executed my judgments, but have done after the manners of the heathen that are round about you.'

This entire chapter speaks of the sins and abominations of Jerusalem. Since the house of Israel (10 northern tribes) have already been sent into exile by the Assyrians, this chapter must be referring to the house of Judah or the 3 southern tribes of Benjamin, Judah and Levi.

31'In that thou buildest thine eminent place in the head of every way, and makest thine high place in every street; and hast not been as an harlot, in that thou scornest hire;' (KJV)

Pretty harsh words here. YHWH is calling them worse than a whore because they gave themselves away for free and didn't even charge for their whoring.

47'As I live, saith the Lord GOD, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters.' (KJV)

YHWH is saying that Jerusalem has done worse than Sodom/Sedom.

51'Neither hath Samaria committed half of thy sins; but thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters in all thine abominations which thou hast done.' (KJV)

YHWH is saying that Samaria/Shomeron is not half as bad as Jerusalem.

52'Thou also, which hast judged thy sisters, bear thine own shame for thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they: they are more righteous than thou: yea, be thou confounded also, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified thy sisters.' (KJV)

YHWH is saying that Samaria/Shomeron is more righteous than Jerusalem and that the sins of Jerusalem are more abominable then the sins of Samaria/Shomeron.

61'Then thou shalt remember thy ways, and be ashamed, when thou shalt receive thy sisters, thine elder and thy younger: and I will give them unto thee for daughters, but not by thy covenant.' (KJV)

When the house of Judah reunites with the house of Israel, the people will be ashamed of what they had done previously.

63'That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord GOD.' (KJV)

When the establishes HIS new covenant with all the children of Israel, the people will be ashamed of what they had done previously.

23'And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,'

24'Son of man, say unto her, Thou art the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation.'

25'There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.'

26'Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.'

27'Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.'

28'And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord GOD, when the LORD hath not spoken.'

29'The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.'

30'And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.'

31'Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.'

28'For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy mind is alienated:'

29'And they shall deal with thee hatefully, and shall take away all thy labour, and shall leave thee naked and bare: and the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be discovered, both thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.'

30'I will do these things unto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the heathen, and because thou art polluted with their idols.'

37'That they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto me, to pass for them through the fire, to devour them.'

38'Moreover this they have done unto me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths.'

39'For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, lo, thus have they done in the midst of mine house.'

13'In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee.'

14'I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD.'

3'I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me: for now, O Ephraim, thou committest whoredom, and Israel is defiled.'

4'They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God: for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they have not known the LORD.'

5'And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity: Judah also shall fall with them.'

6'They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; but they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them.'

4'Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked:'

12"For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gatefrom their right." (KJV)

14"Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:" (KJV)

15"And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel." (KJV)

16"Now therefore hear thou the word of the LORD: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac." (KJV)

17"Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land." (KJV)

12'Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.'

9'Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity.'

12'Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.'

2'Hear ye, O mountains, the LORD's controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth: for the LORD hath a controversy with his people, and he will plead with Israel.' (KJV)

This entire chapter speaks to how the Hebrew people turned their back on YHWH and did not obey.

11'And I took my staff, even Beauty, and cut it asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the people.'

12'And it was broken in that day: and so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was the word of the LORD.'

7'Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?'

8'Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.'

7'Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. '

13'Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee?'

13'Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?'

13'And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.'

56'Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies:' (KJV)

57'But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.' (KJV)

58'For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.' (KJV)

59'When God heard this, he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:' (KJV)

11'The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.' (KJV)

This vow was fulfilled with both Solomon and the Messiah.

12'If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.' (KJV)

Since David's children have not sat upon his throne forever, does this mean that they have NOT kept HIS covenant and HIS testimony?

3'Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude: she dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest: all her persecutors overtook her between the straits.'

Judah/Yahudah was sent into captivity because of the way they acted.

5'Her adversaries are the chief, her enemies prosper; for the LORD hath afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions: her children are gone into captivity before the enemy.'

YHWH afflicted Judah/Yahudah because of her many sins.

8'Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honoured her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness: yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward.'

Jerusalem/Yerushalayim has sinned greated and that is why she was removed.

13'From above hath he sent fire into my bones, and it prevaileth against them: he hath spread a net for my feet, he hath turned me back: he hath made me desolate and faint all the day.'

14'The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they are wreathed, and come up upon my neck: he hath made my strength to fall, the LORD hath delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up.'

YHWH did this because of their many sins.

15'The LORD hath trodden under foot all my mighty men in the midst of me: he hath called an assembly against me to crush my young men: the LORD hath trodden the virgin, the daughter of Judah, as in a winepress.'

YHWH did this because of their many sins.

17'Zion spreadeth forth her hands, and there is none to comfort her: the LORD hath commanded concerning Jacob, that his adversaries should be round about him: Jerusalem is as a menstruous woman among them.'

YHWH has commanded this to happen.

18'The LORD is righteous; for I have rebelled against his commandment: hear, I pray you, all people, and behold my sorrow: my virgins and my young men are gone into captivity.'

YHWH is righteous in doing this as the people have rebelled against HIM.

19'I called for my lovers, but they deceived me: my priests and mine elders gave up the ghost in the city, while they sought their meat to relieve their souls.'

None of the material things of this world helped.

20'Behold, O LORD; for I am in distress: my bowels are troubled; mine heart is turned within me; for I have grievously rebelled: abroad the sword bereaveth, at home there is as death.'

Here he admits to his wrongdoing.

1'Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.' (KJV)

1'For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.' (KJV)

6'And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens.' (KJV)

7'Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.' (KJV)

10'And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments,' (KJV)

11'Which thou hast commanded by thy servants the prophets, saying, The land, unto which ye go to possess it, is an unclean land with the filthiness of the people of the lands, with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their uncleanness.' (KJV)

15'O LORD God of Israel, thou art righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because of this.' (KJV)

6'So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, Ye children of Israel, turn again unto the LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and he will return to the remnant of you, that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria.'

7'And be not ye like your fathers, and like your brethren, which trespassed against the LORD God of their fathers, who therefore gave them up to desolation, as ye see.'

8'Now be ye not stiffnecked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves unto the LORD, and enter into his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever: and serve the LORD your God, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you.'

9'For if ye turn again unto the LORD, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him.'

10'So the posts passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh even unto Zebulun: but they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them.'

41'Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.'

2'And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.'

21'But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.'

3''And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.'

5'But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.'

Just like today. Interesting to note they used fellows of the baser sort.

13'But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.'

Just like today.

YHWH's eternal promises and covenants with Israel

40'If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me;' (KJV)

41'And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:' (KJV)

42'Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.' (KJV)

Forgiveness is an option.

I think these verses are referring to their Babylonian exile.

44'And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God.' (KJV)

45'But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.' (KJV)

46'These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the LORD made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.' (KJV)

These were made with the children of Israel. This verse did not say the seed of Israel.

I think these verses are referring to their Babylonian exile.

6"For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth." (KJV)

2"For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth." (KJV)

29'But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.' (KJV)

30'When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;' (KJV)

This verse seems to be speaking about the End of Days or long after the Messiah was crucified.

31'(For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.' (KJV)

YHWH is using the children of Israel as a tool against the wicked people in the land and at the same time, HE is keeping HIS promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

1'And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee,' (KJV)

2'And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;' (KJV)

3'That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.' (KJV)

Our heavenly Father will come get us.

4'If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee:' (KJV)

5'And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.' (KJV)

Our heavenly Father will come get us.

6'And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.' (KJV)

7'And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.' (KJV)

8'And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the LORD, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.' (KJV)

24"For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God." (KJV)

37"Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD." (KJV)

25"Thus saith the LORD; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;" (KJV)

26"Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them." (KJV)

28"Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished." (KJV)

Do the children of Israel have to worry about being wiped off the face of the earth?

2 Samuel 7:24

YHWH's people forever.

24"For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God." (KJV)

17'At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.' (KJV)

18'In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.' (KJV)

6'For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.' (KJV)

7'And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.' (KJV)
