Comparison Tests
I found results from a test done in 2013. Lea Harris, a certified Aromatherapist, sent in 5 different brands of myrrh essential oil to be tested by the renowned chemist, Dr. Robert Pappas. It was a blind test. The bottles were only labeled with numbers.
- doTERRA was labeled with #1
- Aura Cacia: #2
- Essential Vitality (the only organic sample): #3
- Mountain Rose Herbs: #4
- Young Living: #5
The results showed that all were of great quality. Though Dr. Pappas favored the chemistry of #2 and #3. Essential Vitality (which remember was the only organic sample) and Aura Cacia's myrrh (not organic).
I looked them all up, and here are the prices that 15ml of myrrh sells at from each company:
- Essential Vitality Organic: $164.85
- Young Living: $85.50
- doTERRA: $69:33
- Mountain Rose Herbs: $23.50
- Aura Cacia: $18.00
I had never heard of Essential Vitality before. And definitely would never in my life be able to afford them. But Young Living gets a lot of hype so I was surprised when I saw their prices. $67 more than the myrrh oil that tested better than it?? doTerra is also recommended a lot. Still, over $50 more. Aura Cacia's oils are the only essential oils I have ever used. I LOVE them. And so far, it's looking like I have every reason to keep using them. I'll keep researching though to see if there's something better out there!! I just thought this was very interesting. Plus great news for me!
