The Book of 1 John/1 Yohanan

1 John 1:10

10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Looks like John is saying that EVERYONE sins.

1 John 2:6

6He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.  (KJV)

If we are to be disciples of the Messiah, we need to walk as HE walked.  There is no exclusion here for things HE did because HE was a Jew/Yahudah.
This verse seems to be saying that we should be doing what the Messiah did.

1 John 2:7

7Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.  (KJV)

Contrast with John 8:5 where the word 'Nomos' is used.
What is he referring to here?  He seems to be referring to the Torah of YHWH.

1 John 2:15-16

"15Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him."  (KJV)

"16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."  (KJV)

If salvation does not change our behavior, then how are we set apart?

1 John Chapter 3

1 John 3:4

'4Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.' (KJV)

The definition of sin. Sin is the transgression of the Torah.

1 John 3:5

'5And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.' (KJV)

The reason the Messiah was manifested..

1 John 3:12

'12Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.' (KJV)

Was Cain/Qayin born of the evil one?
Cain/Qayin - smith, spear

1 John 3:15

'15Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.' (KJV)

This applies to everyone.

1 John 3:16

'16Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.' (KJV)

Very Important! He doesn't say your brethren but rather 'the' brethren which, I think, means fellow believers.

1 John Chapter 4

1 John 4:1

1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.(KJV)

1 John 4:3

3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.(KJV)

Sounds like he is talking about the Synagogue of Satan.

The Book of 1 John Chapter 5

1 John 5:6

6This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.(KJV)

What does this mean?

1 John 5:7

7For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.(KJV)

KJV/NIV Differences

Who are the three Persons of the Trinity in First John 5:7?

1 John 5:16

16If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.(KJV)

What is a sin unto death?
