Jeremiah Chapter 1

Israel's faithlessness

Jeremiah 1:1

"¹The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:" (KJV)

Jeremiah chapter 1, verse 1 identifies the Prophet Jeremiah as the author of the Book of Jeremiah.

Jeremiah 1:2

"²To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign." (KJV)

13th Year

"³It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month." (KJV)

The end of the 11th year unto the 5th month

Jeremiah 1:5

"⁵Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations." (KJV)

YHWH knew Jeremiah before he was even conceived. YHWH set Jeremiah apart for a divine purpose before he came out of his mother's womb.

Does YHWH knows us before HE forms us in our mother's womb? Did HE set us apart for a divine purpose before we came out of our mother's womb?

Jeremiah 1:11

"¹¹Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree." (KJV)

What does the rod of an almond tree symbolize?

Jeremiah 1:13

"¹³And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north." (KJV)

What does seething pot symbolize?

Jeremiah 1:14

¹⁴Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land. (KJV)

Another reference to an evil coming out of the North. Is this referring to the Assyrians, the Europeans, the Russians, or the European Jews?

Jeremiah 1:15

'¹⁵For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.' (KJV)

The armies of the North?

Jeremiah 1:18-19

'¹⁸For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.' (KJV)

'¹⁹And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.' (KJV)

Looks like the kings, princes, and priests are NOT always right.
It also seems that there are times that YHWH will expect us to stand against them and HE will protect us from them.

Jeremiah 1:21

"²¹How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers." (KJV)

Jeremiah is not speaking well of Jerusalem.

Jeremiah Chapter 2

Israel's faithlessness

Jeremiah 2:2

"²Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown." (KJV)

This verse seems to be saying that a marriage took place at Mount Sinai.

Jeremiah Chapter 3

Jeremiah 3:1

"They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD." (KJV)

Translation Difference

"Elohim said, "If a man puts away his wife and she goes from him and becomes anothers man's, does he return to her again? would not that land be made greatly unclean? But you have committed whoring with many lovers. And would you returen to Me?" declares YHWH"(The Besorah Of Yahusha)

Jeremiah 3:8

"⁸And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also." (KJV)

YHWH gave the House of Israel a bill of divorce.

Jeremiah 3:12

"¹²Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever." (KJV)

North

Jeremiah 3:13

"¹³Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD." (KJV)

YHWH wants us to acknowledge our iniquity.

Jeremiah 3:14

"¹⁴Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:" (KJV)

Jeremiah 3 shows us that Yahweh defines divorce differently than we do in the West (circa 2011 CE). For example, in verse 8 Yahweh says He divorced Ephraim and "put her away," yet in verse 14 He says He is still married to her. Apparently Yahweh does not believe that the divorce terminated His marriage. Rather, it seems Yahweh thinks that the divorce papers only signal the fact that His wife is presently being adulterous (which she will hopefully not be forever).

Jeremiah 3:15

"And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding." (KJV)

Translation Difference

"And I shall give you shepherds according to My heart and they shall feed you with knowledge and understanding." (The Besorah Of Yahusha)

²⁰¹⁴ - These are the leaders of Nazarene believers who love Yahshua, both covenants, and all things that pertain to the restoration of our nation.

Older translations say branches rather than battlements.

Jeremiah 5:15

'¹⁵Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.' (KJV)

What nation is being referred to here?

Jeremiah 5:19

'¹⁹And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not your's.' (KJV)

We are supposed to answer honestly, not just 'soothe their itchy ears'.

Jeremiah 5:26

"²⁶For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men. " (KJV)

Jeremiah 6:1

"¹O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire in Bethhaccerem: for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction." (KJV)

The tribe of Binyamin was in Yerushalayim.
Evil is prophesied to come from the north. I think this is a reference to the Assyrian Empire.

Jeremiah 6:16

"¹⁶Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein." (KJV)

Sounds like the people today.

Jeremiah 6:17

"¹⁷Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken." (KJV)

Jeremiah 6:22

"²²Thus saith the LORD, Behold, a people cometh from the north country, and a great nation shall be raised from the sides of the earth." (KJV)

A people cometh from the north country. The armies of the North?

Could the words, "great nation shall be raised from the sides of the earth" be referring to America and/or China?

Jeremiah 6:26

"²⁶O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and wallow thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come upon us." (KJV)

Translation Difference

'O daughter of my people, gird on sackcloth, and roll about in ashes! Make mourning as for an only son, most bitter lamentation because suddenly the ravager shall come upon us.' (The ISR Scriptures)

'O daughter of My people, dress in sackcloth, and cover yourself in ashes: make mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the plunderer shall suddenly come upon us.' (The Restoration Scriptures)

Who, or what is the spoiler, or the ravager, or the plunderer?

Is this a reference to Nibiru or 'Planet X'?

Jeremiah Chapter 7

Judah's idolatry

Jeremiah 7:2-7

"²Stand in the gate of the LORD's house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the LORD." (KJV)

"³Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place." (KJV)

"⁴Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these." (KJV)

"⁵For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour;" (KJV)

"⁶If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt: " (KJV)

"⁷Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever. " (KJV)

Sounds conditional to me. Especially the part about not shedding innocent blood.

Jeremiah 7:12-13

"12 - "But go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I set my name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel." (KJV)

"13 - "Therefore will I do unto this house, which is called by my name, wherein ye trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh." (KJV)

What place is being referred to in this verse?

Jeremiah 7:15

"15 - "And I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of Ephraim." (KJV)

YHWH is referring to the whole seed of Ephraim/Ephrayim.

Jeremiah 7:18

'The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.' (KJV)

Who is the 'queen of heaven'?

Probably Astarte/Ashtoreth.

Ashtoreth - the moon goddess of the Phoenicians, representing the passive principle in nature, their principal female deity; frequently associated with the name of Baal, the sun-god, their chief male deity (Judg. 10:6; 1 Sam. 7:4; 12:10)

These names often occur in the plural (Ashtaroth, Baalim), probably as indicating either different statues or different modifications of the deities. This deity is spoken of as Ashtoreth of the Zidonians. She was the Ishtar of the Accadians and the Astarte of the Greeks (Jer. 44:17; 1 Kings 11:5, 33; 2 Kings 23:13).

There was a temple of this goddess among the Philistines in the time of Saul (1 Sam. 31:10). Under the name of Ishtar, she was one of the great deities of the Assyrians. The Phoenicians called her Astarte.

Solomon introduced the worship of this idol (1 Kings 11:33). Jezebel's 400 priests were probably employed in its service (1 Kings 18:19). It was called the “queen of heaven” (Jer. 44:25).

Asherah -

… and plural Asherim in Revised Version, instead of “grove” and “groves” of the King James Version

This was the name of a sensual Canaanitish goddess Astarte, the feminine of the Assyrian Ishtar.

Its symbol was the stem of a tree deprived of its boughs, and rudely shaped into an image, and planted in the ground. Such religious symbols (“groves”) are frequently alluded to in Scripture (Ex. 34:13; Judg. 6:25; 2 Kings 23:6; 1 Kings 16:33, etc.). These images were also sometimes made of silver or of carved stone (2 Kings 21:7; “the graven image of Asherah,” R.V.).

Ishtar -

Assyrian goddess of sexuality, referred to in the Bible as “queen of heaven” (Jeremiah 7:18, 44:17, 25). The name “Ishtar” does not appear in the Bible.

Grove -

1. Hebrew: 'asherah, properly a wooden image, or a pillar representing Ashtoreth, a sensual Canaanitish goddess, probably usually set up in a grove (2 Kings 21:7; 23:4). In the Revised Version the word “Asherah” (q.v.) is introduced as a proper noun, the name of the wooden symbol of a goddess, with the plurals Asherim (Ex. 34:13) and Asheroth (Judg. 3:13).

The LXX. have rendered asherah in 2 Chr. 15:16 by “Astarte.” The Vulgate has done this also in Judg. 3:7.

2. Hebrew: 'eshel (Gen. 21:33). In 1 Sam. 22:6 and 31:13 the Authorized Version renders this word by “tree.” In all these passages the Revised Version renders by “tamarisk tree.” It has been identified with the Tamariscus orientalis, five species of which are found in Palestine.

3. The Hebrew word 'elon, uniformly rendered in the Authorized Version by “plain,” properly signifies a grove or plantation. In the Revised Version it is rendered, pl., “oaks” (Gen. 13:18; 14:13; 18:1; 12:6; Deut. 11:30; Josh. 19:33). In the earliest times groves are mentioned in connection with religious worship. The heathen consecrated groves to particular gods, and for this reason they were forbidden to the Jews (Jer. 17:3; Ezek. 20:28).

"³¹And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart." (KJV)

"⁷Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD." (KJV)

Jeremiah 8:9

"⁹The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them?" (KJV)

Translation Difference

"The wise shall be put to shame, they shall be broken down and caught. See, they have rejected the Word of YHWH, so what wisdom do they have?" (The ISR Scriptures)

Jeremiah Chapter 9

¹¹And I will make Jerusalem heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.(KJV)

"²³Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: " (KJV)

'Thus said YHWH, "Let not the wise boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty boast in his might, nor let the rich boast in his riches,' (The ISR Scriptures)

'This says YHWH, Let not the wise man tifereth in his chochmah, neither let the mighty man tifereth in his might, let not the rich man tifereth in his riches:' (The Restoration Scriptures)

'Thus says YHWH, Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches;' (Interlinear Jeremiah)

Jeremiah 9:24

"²⁴But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD." (KJV)

Translation Difference

'but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am YHWH, doing kindness, right-ruling, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” declares YHWH.' (The ISR Scriptures)

'But let him that boasts, boast in this, that he understands and knows Me, ²⁰⁵¹ that I am YHWH who exercises loving-kindness, mishpat, and tzedakah, in the earth: for in these things I delight, says YHWH.' (The Restoration Scriptures)

²⁰⁵¹ - Quoted by Paul in I Corinthians 1:31, further evidence that they were an Efrayimite congregation in exile, since only Yisrael knew YHWH in the first place, and he takes that Scripture given to Yisrael and applies it to the Corinthians.

'but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am YHWH who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things, declares YHWH.' (Interlinear Jeremiah)

Jeremiah 9:25

²⁵Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised; (KJV)

I had originally thought this verse meant YHWH was going to punish the circumcised along with the uncircumsised but a brother (Ronald Furgeson) pointed out that this verse could mean that YHWH was going to use the uncircumcised to punish the circumcised and I think this is a more accurate interpretation.

Jeremiah 9:26

'²⁶Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart.' (KJV)

Judah & Israel will NOT be spared punishment.

Jeremiah Chapter 10

The living God

Jeremiah 10:2

"²Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. " (KJV)

Translation Difference

'Thus said YHWH, "Do not learn the way of the gentiles, ⁱ and do not be awed by the signs of the heavens, for the gentiles are awed by them. ^j' (The ISR Scriptures)

Jeremiah 10:5

"⁵They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. " (KJV)

Very interesting. I think HE is referring to the created idols in this verse. They are inatimate objects so they can not harm you. However, they lack any power to do good.

Jeremiah 10:22-23

²²Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons.(KJV)

Translation Difference

"See, it has come, the voice of a report, and a great shaking out of the land of the north, to make the cities of Yehudah a waste, a habitation of jackals." (The ISR Scriptures)

"See, the noise of the report has come, and a great commotion from the north country, to make the cities of Yahudah desolate, and a dwelling of jackals." (The Restoration Scriptures)

Dragons?

"²³O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps." (KJV)

Translation Difference

"O YHWH, I know the way of man is not in himself, it is not for man who walks to direct his own steps." (The ISR Scriptures)

"O YHWH, I know that the derech of man is not found in himself: it is not for man to direct his own steps." (The Restoration Scriptures)

Man is not fit to direct (or rule) his own life.

Jeremiah Chapter 11

Coming distress
The covenant broken

YHWH gives a prophecy to Jeremiah/Yirmeyahu referencing the covenant at Mount Sinai.

Jeremiah 11:2

"²Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;" (KJV)

Verse four (4) makes it clear that Jeremiah/Yirmeyahu is referring to the covenant at Mount Sinai.

Jeremiah 11:3

"³And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant, " (KJV)

Sounds pretty important to me.

Jeremiah 11:4

"⁴Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God: " (KJV)

YHWH is giving specific instructions on how to be HIS people.

Jeremiah 11:6

"⁶Then the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them. " (KJV)

Sounds pretty clear to me.

Jeremiah 11:9

"⁹And the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem. " (KJV)

Translation Difference

'⁹ And YHWH said to me, “There is a conspiracy among the men of Yehudah and among the inhabitants of Yerushalayim." (The ISR Scriptures)'

Conspiracies existed in ancient times also.
I wonder what Jeremiah/Yirmeyahu meant by this?

Jeremiah 11:10

"¹⁰They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers. " (KJV)

They broke YHWH's covenant.

Jeremiah 11:13

"¹³For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal. " (KJV)

The people were engaged in Ba'al worship.

Jeremiah 11:14

"¹⁴Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble. " (KJV)

YHWH is specifically saying NOT to pray for the people who were disobeying HIM.

Jeremiah 11:16

"¹⁶The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken." (KJV)

YHWH calls Israel a green olive tree.

Jeremiah 11:17

"¹⁷For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal." (KJV)

The people were engaged in Ba'al worship.
YHWH has pronounced judgement on the house of Israel and the house of Judah.

Jeremiah 11:21

²¹Therefore thus saith the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand:(KJV)

It seems they are saying that if he prophesies in the name of YHWH they will kill him.

I wonder if modern weather manipulation is an attempt by Satanist's to try and imitate the power of YHWH?

Jeremiah Chapter 15

Judah beyond deliverance

Jeremiah 15:1

¹Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.

YHWH is clearly stating that no one else can provide our salvation. Even if we are associating with righteous people it will not change HIS judgement of us.

Jeremiah 15:4

'⁴And I will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem.' (KJV)

The sins of Manasseh are detailed in 2 Kings 21:2-11

These two verses are very important in that they say, in the future, the Hebrew people will no longer talk of the 1st Exodus but rather they will talk about the 2nd Exodus. This seems to imply that people will no longer observe Passover after the Messiah returns them to the land.

YHWH is declaring Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon as HIS servant.

"²⁹For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts." (KJV)

YHWH is going to punish all the earth.

"³³And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground." (KJV)

The destruction will be so great, the dead will just be left laying on the ground.

Doesn't sound like they took the news very well.

Jeremiah 26:11

'¹¹Then spake the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy to die; for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears.' (KJV)

Sounds similar to today. The powers that be did not care whether Jeremiah prophesied the truth. They had set their government up as sacred so anyone who spoke against what the governmet was doing were vilified.

Jeremiah 26:18

"¹⁸Micah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest." (KJV)

Since God is obviously punishing Israel as he said he would for disobedience, then doesn't this mean they have not accepted God and therefore are NOT entitled to any preferrential treatment?

Jeremiah 26:23

'²³And they fetched forth Urijah out of Egypt, and brought him unto Jehoiakim the king; who slew him with the sword, and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people.' (KJV)

Kill the messanger at all costs and do anything to discredit them.

Jeremiah Chapter 27

Nebuchadnezzar's victory
A good deal of interesting information in this chapter.
This seems to be a key chapter in Scriture.
Lots of referential events taking place or prophesied.

Jeremiah 27:6

"⁶And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him." (KJV)

YAHUA reiterates this statement in Chapter 28 after Hananyah prophesized falsely. - (Jeremiah 28:14)
This is another instance of YHWH referring to Nebuchadnezzar as his servent. (Jeremiah 25:9

Jeremiah 27:7

"⁷And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of him." (KJV)

YHWH is saying this rule will last through Nebukadnetstsar's son's son's rule.

Jeremiah 27:8

"⁸And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand." (KJV)

YHWH is putting everything under Nebukadnetstsar's rule.

I think this is very important as I was always led to believe in the Christian church that the Babylonians were the bad guys. Here, it is quite evident that YHWH is giving power and control to the king to fulfil YHWH's plan. Perhaps YHWH is using the king to teach HIS people subjegation and how to obey since they were so stubborn and stiff necked.

Jeremiah 27:9

"⁹Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon:" (KJV)

Don't listen to the people speaking against the word of YHWH.

It doesn't look good for Ahab and Zedekiah since they have been caught lying.

I think the reason the town of Anathoth has so many references is because it was a 'city of refuge' and the birthplace of Jeremiah and where he frequently lived.

This verse speaks of Israel AND Judah.

YHWH will regather HIS people Israel and Judah, they will return to the land and shall possess it.

Is this is a reference to the house of Israel and the house of Judah?

"¹⁰Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid." (KJV)

YHWH tells Jacob and Israel not to be afraid as HE will save them from afar.

Since modern Jews are afraid of the Arabs, this verse seems to indicate that the modern Jews are NOT the people being referred to in this verse.

Jeremiah 30:11

"¹¹For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet I will not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished." (KJV)

Spare the rod, spoil the child. All nations will end but YHWH's people will be 'corrected' also.

YHWH will correct HIS people after HE brings them back to the Holy Land.

Jeremiah 30:15

"¹⁵Why criest thou for thine affliction? thy sorrow is incurable for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee." (KJV)

No use crying when you've brought the problem on yourself.

You will be my people, and I will be your Eloha.

Jeremiah Chapter 31

Restoration of Israel

Jeremiah 31:1

¹At the same time, saith the LORD, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people. (KJV)

YHWH will be the God of ALL the families of Israel, not just the Jews or the tribe of Judah. Modern Judaism claims that the 10 northern tribes are lost and they only focus on themselves.

Jeremiah 31:5

⁵Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things. (KJV)

Were they uncommon at one point? Is this referring to a previous famine?

Jeremiah 31:6

⁶For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God. (KJV)

The operative word here being, REMNANT of Israel, not NATION of Israel.

⁸Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither. (KJV)

Is this a reference to the 2nd Exodus?

Jeremiah 31:9

⁹They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn. (KJV)

Ephraim/Ephrayim

Jeremiah 31:10

"Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock." (KJV)

Unless people want to claim that the Assyrians and Babylonians are going to be bringing the people back to the land, this verse seems to be referring to YHWH as the one doing the gathering.

Jeremiah 31:15

'¹⁵Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.' (KJV)

Is this prophecy fulfilled in Matthew 2:17,18?

Jeremiah 31:16

¹⁶Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy. (KJV)

Is this a reference to the 2nd Exodus?

Why has YHWH singled out Ephraim/Ephrayim for mention in this chapter/verse?

Jeremiah 31:20

²⁰Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD.(KJV)

²²How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man. (KJV)

What did he mean that a woman shall compass a man?

³¹Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: (KJV)

The introduction of the New Covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah.

A new covenant. The Beginning of the Brit Hadasha.

These verses are restated almost word for word in Hebrews 8:8

"³²Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:" (KJV)

YHWH's people broke the original covenant.

Is he referring to Pesach/Passover in this verse?

³³But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. (KJV)

YHWH will write his new covenant in our hearts.
Interesting that it says the HOUSE of Israel and not the children of Israel.

Israel will be a nation before YHWH forever.

What are the ordinances of the moon?

Taken in context with the previous verse, (Jeremiah 34:8) which states ALL the people which were at Jerusalem, the use of the word 'Jew' here should mean Judeans. (It cannot mean the tribe of Judah and doesn't seem to be exclusive to the house of Judah either.)

The people had made a Covenant with YHWH in the house which is called by my name.

Does this mean the temple or Jerusalem?

Jeremiah 34:16

"¹⁶But ye turned and polluted my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom he had set at liberty at their pleasure, to return, and brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids." (KJV)

They broke their covenant with YHWH. Not a smart move.

"¹⁷Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ye have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the LORD, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth." Now comes the punishment phase for breaking the covenant.

Jeremiah 34:18

"¹⁸And I will give the men that have transgressed my covenant, which have not performed the words of the covenant which they had made before me, when they cut the calf in twain, and passed between the parts thereof," (KJV)

Part of the ritual of making a Covenant is to split a sacrificial animal in half and then both parties in the covenant walk between the pieces.

Jeremiah Chapter 35

The Rechabites
The story of Rechab/Rĕkab and the Rechabites/Rĕkabites. He instructed his children not to drink wine, nor live in the city, nor sow seed, nor plant a vineyard but to live in tents all their days and his children obeyed.

Is the 'fasting day' referring to Yom haKippurim (The Day of Atonements) which is observed on the 7th Month 10th Day

Jeremiah 36:9

'⁹And it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the LORD to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people that came from the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem.' (KJV)

Why was a fast called in the fifth (5th) year of Jehoiakim/Yehoyaqim in the ninth (9th) month?

Jeremiah 36:22

²²Now the king sat in the winterhouse in the ninth month: and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him.(KJV)

The Anglo-Saxon 9th month is September, the Hebrew 9th month is November or December. So the king was in his winter house with a fire burning in the fireplace in December. Another piece of evidence that the Messiah was NOT born in December because the shephards would not be outside tending their flocks in the winter time. Most Christians think of the Holy Land as a semi desert. The fact is, it snows in Jerusalem in the winter time.

Jeremiah 36:23

'²³And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.' (KJV)

I guess the king didn't like the prophecy.

Jeremiah 36:26

'²⁶But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the LORD hid them.' (KJV)

They always want to kill the messenger.

Jeremiah 36:30

'³⁰Therefore thus saith the LORD of Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost. ' (KJV)

Because Joseph descended from Jeconiah (Matthew 1:11) he fell under the curse of that king that none of his descendants could ever sit as king upon the throne of David. (Jeremiah 22:30; 36:30)

They want to kill the messenger.
This is just like today (2020AD). People in the military are called heroes and used as a buffer by the government.
They weren't seeking the welfare of the people but rather a military solution.

He also offered to let Jeremiah come to Babylon where he would be treated well or to be free and go where ever he wanted to go. The captain of the guard let Jeremiah go free.

⁶Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land. (KJV)

Hebrews were left in the land after the Babylonian invasion and exile.

The people are asking Jeremiah to pray to 'his' Elohim to save them.

Jeremiah/Yirmeyahu didn't get an instant answer, it took ten (10) days.

Jeremiah 43:10

Once again YHWH refers to Nebuchadrezzar as HIS servant.

Jeremiah 43:13

¹³He shall break also the images of Bethshemesh, that is in the land of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of the Egyptians shall he burn with fire.(KJV)

Bethshemesh means 'house of (the) sun'. Since the Egyptians worshipped Ra as a god, this probably is referring the sun god temples.

Jeremiah Chapter 44

Verses 6-22 detail the fate of Edom. It sounds like Edom will be completely destroyed like Sodom and Gemorrah.

Jeremiah 50:3

'An assembly of great nations from the north country', is this the 'armies of the north'?

"In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve. " (KJV)

I'm curious as to who the remnant that HE leaves are. Are these the people left behind in Jeremiah 39 and retold in 2 Kings 25:12 and Jeremiah 52?

Translation Difference

'"For neither Yisra'ĕl nor Yehudah is widowed by his Elohim, YHWH of hosts, though their land has been filled with sin against the Set-apart One of Yisra'ĕl." (The ISR Scriptures)

'For Yisrael has not been forsaken, nor Yahudah by his Elohim, YHWH tzevaoth; ²³¹¹ though their land was filled with sin against the Kadosh-One of Yisrael.' (The Restoration Scriptures)

²³¹¹ - Though painfully corrected and disciplined, neither house will ever be forsaken by YHWH. Yahshua and the Renewed Covenant is proof of that.

Is this symbolism for a 'sea' of people, as in invaders?
Iran has the Caspian Sea to the North and Persian Gulf to the South.

Once again, it is noted that the poor Hebrews were left in the land to tend to the land. This fits historically, as the Babylonians were not an Agrarian culture. They would over run a culture, destory it's leadership and leave the poor to tend the land (and pay annual tributes or taxes).

Jeremiah 52:28-30

²⁸This is the people whom Nebuchadrezzar carried away captive: in the seventh year three thousand Jews and three and twenty:

In year 7 - 3,023 taken captive

²⁹In the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar he carried away captive from Jerusalem eight hundred thirty and two persons:

In year 18 - 832 taken captive

³⁰In the three and twentieth year of Nebuchadrezzar Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred forty and five persons: all the persons were four thousand and six hundred. (KJV)

In year 23 - 745 taken captive for a total of 4,600 people.
I wonder why it took 16 years to take them captive?

Jeremiah 52:31

"³¹And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the five and twentieth day of the month, that Evilmerodach king of Babylon in the first year of his reign lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brought him forth out of prison." GENERAL NOTES ON THE BOOK OF JEREMIAH:

The Book of Jeremiah was written between 630 and 580 B.C.

The Book of Jeremiah records the final prophecies to Judah, warning of oncoming destruction if the nation does not repent. Jeremiah calls out for the nation to turn back to God. At the same time, Jeremiah recognizes the inevitability of Judahs destruction due to its unrepentant idolatry and immorality.

The dates of the events in the book of Jeremiah is from the Judean king Josiah's 13th year (or 627BC) in Jeremiah 1:2 to beyond the fall of Jerusalem ( or 586BC) in Jeremiah 39, 40, and 52. As Jewish tradition is that Jeremiah was taken captive by the Babylonians when they invaded Egypt (he went to Egypt - see Jer 43, 44) in 568/67 BC, it could not have been actually written much later than that.

Parts of the Book of Jeremiah have also been found among the Dead Sea Scrolls in cave 4 in Qumran.
