3 Days & 3 Nights
INDEX:
INTRODUCTION:
The purpose of this page is to calculate, with Scriptural references, the 3 days and 3 nights that the Messiah spent in the grave. I would also like to develop a timeline to show the day of the week He was crucified and the day of His resurrection.
SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:
40'For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. ' (KJV)
17'Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?' (KJV)
Unleavened Bread/Matzot
Feast of Unleavened Bread/Chag Matzoth (H)
disciples/talmidim (H)
Jesus/Yahushua
passover/Pesach (H)
The feast of Unleavened Bread is held on the 15th through the 21st days of the first month (Abib)
1'In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.' (KJV)
Since it is the end of the Sabbath and it is toward the first day of the week, this should be a weekly Sabbath.
This means the Messiah resurrected BEFORE daybreak on the first day of the week.
