Literal Translation -vs- Interpretation
"Literalistic" interpretation is like a word-for-word translation that yields verbally exact or "formally equivalent" versions but that also runs the risk of overlooking the main (illocutionary) point. Literal interpretation, on the other hand, is more like a translation that strives for dynamic equivalence and yields the literary sense.

The purpose of this page is to document the dangers of translating the Scriptures incorrectly.
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" (2 Timothy 3:16) (KJV)

Obviously, Job/Iyob/Yob's wife was not speaking according to inspiration here, and we cannot use this for doctrine.
