INTRODUCTION:

The purpose of this page is to provide Scriptural evidence of the Messiah in the Old Testament (TeNaKh).
The Messiah said, "For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me." (John 5:46) Additionally, it is written in the book of Luke, "And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself." (Luke 24:27)

Using this as my guide, I started collecting verses from the TeNaKh that referred to the Messiah.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:

7And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.

8And he said, Hagar, Sarai's maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she said, I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai.

9And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.

10And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.

11And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.

12And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

13And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me? (KJV)

11"And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I." (KJV)

12"And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me." (KJV)

The ownership of this sentence only makes sense if the angel is YHWH! That would mean this is the Messiah speaking.

13"And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son." (KJV)

14"And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen." (KJV)

15"And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time," (KJV)

16"And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:" (KJV)

17"That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;" (KJV)

18"And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice." (KJV)

11"And the angel of God spake unto me in a dream, saying, Jacob: And I said, Here am I." (KJV)

THE angel of YHWH.

12"And he said, Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the rams which leap upon the cattle are ringstraked, speckled, and grisled: for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee." (KJV)

13"I am the God of Bethel, where thou anointedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred." (KJV)

24And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. (KJV)

Is Jacob wrestling with YAHSHUA?

9And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padanaram, and blessed him. (KJV)

Since YHWH said that no man can see HIS face and live, is this YAHSHUA?

2"And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed." (KJV)

21And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish. (KJV)

Why is this written in third person singular? Is this Yahushua speaking about His father?

20Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared." (KJV)

10And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.(KJV)

11And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.(KJV)

Is this a reference to the Messiah? In Exodus 33:20 YHWH says that no man may see HIS face and live.

'11And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.' (KJV)

Since YHWH says in Exodus 33:20 that no man may see HIS face and live, this would seem to indicate that the entity speaking to Moses/Mosheh is YAHUSHUA the Messiah.

5And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. (KJV)

6And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, (KJV)

Why would YHWH be talking about himself in the 3rd person? This makes better sense grammatically if it was YAHUSHUA proclaiming the name of YHWH and YAHUSHUA proclaiming the attributes of YHWH.

18I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

19And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. (KJV)

15But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. (KJV)

The Rock of his salvation.

1"And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you." (KJV)

Translation Difference

"And the Messenger of YHWH came up from Gilgal to Bokim, and said, "I led you up from Mitsrayim and brought you to the land of which I swore to your fathers, and I said, 'I do not break My covenant with you," (The ISR Scriptures)

"And the Malach-YHWH 711 came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Mitzrayim, and have brought you to the land that I swore to your ahvot; and I said, I will never break My brit with you." (The Restoration Scriptures)

711 - The same Guardian-Metatron that has YHWH's Name speaking in the first person is no doubt Yahshua.

angel of YHWH
The KJV "An angel of the LORD..." seems to be a mistranslation. Depending on one's belief, either 'God the Father' or 'God the Son' brought the children of Israel up out of the land of Egypt/Mitsarim. Since this verse mentions an angel and not God Almighty, it MUST be referring to 'God the Son' or "THE angel of the LORD...".

2"And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?" (KJV)

3"Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you." (KJV)

4"And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept." (KJV)

Gideon is visited by YAHSHUA.

1Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?(KJV)

Translation Difference

And Shemu'el took a flask of oil and poured it on his head, and kissed him and said, “Is it not because YHWH has anointed you leader over His inheritance?(The ISR Scriptures)

In this verse, Samuel is speaking to Saul and telling him that he has been annointed to be leader of YHWH's inheritance. Since YHWH created everything and is soveriegn over all things, HE cannot have inherited anything, as who has something that doesn't already belong to YHWH? Therefore this verse must be speaking of YAHSHUA who inherited the earth from YHWH.

Samuel is telling Saul that the children of Israel are YAHSHUA's inheritance from YHWH. This idea is in harmony with Isaiah 19:24-25, where Isaiah says, "In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land: Whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.

16"And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite." (KJV)

3"But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron?" (KJV)

The angel of YHWH

4"Now therefore thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed." (KJV)

15"And the angel of the LORD said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king." (KJV)

The angel of YHWH

24"Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel." (KJV)

Holy One of Israel
This chapter also shows were the Hebrews were in apostasy.

11"Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me." (KJV)

Holy One of Israel
This verse seems to be referring to the Messiah. It also seems to be saying that the Holy One of Israel was made by God Almighty.
Isaiah 54:5

4"As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel." (KJV)

"4 Our Redeemer, YHWH of hosts is His Name, the Set-apart One of Yisra'ĕl." (The ISR Scriptures)

'26And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.' (KJV)

Savior,
Redeemer,
'mighty One of Jacob'

This entire chapter seems to be referring to the Messiah.

5"For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called." (KJV)

Translation Difference

"For your Maker is your husband, YHWH of hosts is His Name, and the Set-apart One of Yisra'ĕl is your Redeemer. He is called the Elohim of all the earth." (The ISR Scriptures)

"'For your Maker is your Husbands; 1748 YHWH tzevaoth is His Name; and your Redeemers 1749 the Kadosh-One of Yisrael; The Elohim of the whole earth shall He be called. 1750' (The Restoration Scriptures)

1748Hebrew: ki baalecha asechah, or “because your Husbands are your Maker.” We see the plurality of one again in the term “husbands.” Also the Maker is YHWH, and His Redeemer, which in the Hebrew is ve goalecha, or literally “your Redeemers.” We see the Father and Son in this verse as one in both cases.
1749Goalecha, or literally “your Redeemers.”
1750YHWH through Yahshua has taken Efrayim back to be with Judah.

This verse seems to be referring to the Messiah as the husband of his people. This could mean husband as in spouse or husband as in "animal husbandry".
This verse claims that our maker's name is YHWH of hosts, the Set-apart One of Yisra'ĕl, and the Elohim of all the earth. It also states that this entity is our redeemer.
This verse seems to be saying that our redeemer (the Messiah?) is divine.
Isaiah 45:11
Holy One of Israel

'16Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.' (KJV)

Savior,
Redeemer,
'mighty One of Jacob'

11I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. (KJV)

Is this YAHSHUA speaking?

'1Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the LORD, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.' (KJV)

Covenant
This verse appears to be talking about the Messiah.

7"Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me," (KJV)

27"And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself." (KJV)

YAHUSHUA showed them in the TeNaKh all the references to HIM.

44"And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. " (KJV)

The TeNaKh was written about YAHUSHUA.
By making this statement, the Messiah was making it clear that ALL the Old Testament had been written about HIM. The Scripture had not been canonized yet so the Messiah was making it clear what scrolls were to be included.

37"And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape." (KJV)

This would mean that the 'burning bush' was YAHUSHUA.

'

46For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me. (KJV)

YAHUSHUA is saying that Moses wrote about HIM in the Tenach (Old Testament).

39"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. " (KJV)

7"Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.(KJV)

1"Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;" (KJV)

2"And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;" (KJV)

3"And did all eat the same spiritual meat;" (KJV)

4"And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ." (KJV)

ANGEL OF YHWH:

It seems when the term 'Angel of YHWH' is used, they are referring to a specific angel. I believe this is the Messiah.

1And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you. (KJV)

See Chapter Notes:

16And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite. (KJV)

3But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron?

4Now therefore thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed. (KJV)

15And the angel of the LORD said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king. (KJV)

35And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses. (KJV)

The angel of YHWH kills 5,180 Assyrians.

HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL:

22Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel. (KJV)

24"Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel." (KJV)

1476 - Here there is Father YHWH the Helper, and His designated Redeemer. A duality of roles and powers. The Hebrew is VeGoalecha with the Ve prefix, meaning "and your Redeemer."

1506 - All nations are for redeemed Yisrael's pleasure and kingdom dominion.

3 "For I am YHWH your El, The Holy One of Yisrael, your Savior; I have given Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in your place." (Interlinear Isaiah)

YHWH
the Saviour

11Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me. (KJV)

This verse says that YHWH is the Holy One of Israel but then it refers to His Maker! The only one that can be the Maker of the Holy one of Israel is God Almighty. This verse seems to be referring to the Messiah and it also seems to dispute the Trinity doctrine as even the Holy One of Israel has a Maker so He cannot be the same as the maker.

4"As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel." (KJV)

Translation Difference

"4 Our Redeemer, YHWH of hosts is His Name, the Set-apart One of Yisra'ĕl." (The ISR Scriptures)

"6 "Thus said HWHY, Sovereign of Yisra'ĕl, and his Redeemer, YHWH of hosts, 'I am the First and I am the Last, besides Me there is no Elohim." (The ISR Scriptures)

"This says YHWH the Melech of Yisrael, 1529 and His Redeemer YHWH tzevaoth; 1530 I am the first, and I am the last; and beside Me there is no Elohim. 1531" (The Restoration Scriptures)

1529 - Father YHWH.

1530 - In Hebrew Ve goaloh YHWH tzevaot, and His Redeemer YHWH of Hosts, meaning the tool by which He Himself will save us, is also YHWH. This is another reference to the Savior, emanating from Father YHWH, without being the Father.

1531 - So that the definition of Elohim is Father YHWH + His Redeemer YHWH=YHWH-Echad. Leaving out either power leaves one with error rather than truth.

1589 - The Set -Apart One for all 12 tribes, the Messiah Yahshua.

1590 - Many men among Yisrael and Judah's rulers hated this Yahshua, despite the fact that He came to search for them, find them, and forgive them. He came to be the ultimate server and laid down his life as a ransom for many.

1591 - Father YHWH has chosen Yahshua to bring Himself worshippers, from the ends of the earth, including kings, rulers, and presidents.

"Thus says YHWH, the Redeemer of Yisrael and its Holy One, To the despised One, To the One abhorred by the nation, To the Servant of rulers, Kings will see and arise, Princes will also bow down, Because of YHWH who is faithful, the Holy One of Yisrael who has chosen You." (Interlinear Isaiah)

1617 - Yisrael will rule over every enemy she has ever had, as YHWH brings to pass His Torah promises in the Messianic Age, when Yisrael will be the head and no longer the tail.
