Mark Chapter 1

Mark Chapter 2

The Book of Mark Chapter 2

A man with palsy healed
The Lord of the Sabbath

Mark 2:23

23And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.(KJV)

YAHSHUA was out of the house on the Sabbath. He was on the way to the synagogue (Mark 3:1). Does this mean it is okay to travel on the Sabbath?

Mark 2:25-26

25And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him? (KJV)
26How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?

The bread mentioned was the shewbread from the priests. However, it was the day old shew bread that the priests had just replaced with fresh bread. The priests said they could only give it to David and his men if they had not been with a woman. David confirmed that he and his men had not been with a woman for about 3 days so the priests gave them the bread to eat. This brings up two (2) questions:

  • Does a man become unclean when he has been with a woman?
  • Can the priests give some of their alloted portion to the hungry AFTER it has served its purpose in the temple?

Mark 2:27

27And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: (KJV)

The sabbath was made so man could rest and sanctify himself.

Mark Chapter 3

In Mark 3:15, Jesus gave the apostles power to cast out demons and to?

Mark Chapter 4

Mark 4:3-32

The Parable of the Sower
Parable Keys:

Mark 4:13

"13And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables? " (KJV)

Essentially, the Messiah was saying that one needs to understand this parable, (The Parable of the Sower) in order to understand all the other parables.

Mark Chapter 5

Mark Chapter 6

Mark 6:2

'2And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?' (KJV)

HE taught in the synagogue on the Sabbath day.

Mark 6:34

'34And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.' (KJV)

I wonder what the 'many things' were?

YAHUSHUA walks on water.

Genesis 1:2

Job 9:8

Matthew 14:25

YAHUSHUA was trying to show them who HE was. HE was trying to show them whose spirit had moved over the surface of the waters.

Mark Chapter 7

Mark 7:2

"2And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault." (KJV)

This is an oral tradition of the Pharisees. It is a tradition of man and not a commandment of YHWH.

Mark 7:5

"5Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?" (KJV)

This is an oral tradition. There is not a scriptural instruction to wash your hands before eating.

Mark 7:6

"6He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. " (KJV)

Translation Difference

"And YHWH says, "Because this people has drawn near with its mouth, and with its lips they have esteemed Me, and it has kept its heart far from Me, and their fear of Me has become a command of men that is taught!" (The ISR Scriptures)

"Therefore YHWH says, Because this people draws near to Me with their mouths, and with their lips they do honor Me, but have removed their levim far from Me, and their fear of Me is taught by the commands of men: 1381" (The Restoration Scriptures)

1381 - Yisrael's problem is and has always been one of the heart and false doctrines, denying either Yahshua, or His Torah, or both. Yahshua attributes this to Yisrael in Matthew 15:8-9 and Mark 7:6-7.

Rejecting the of word of YHWH. Teaching instead, the doctrines and traditions of men.

Mark 7:9

"9And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. " (KJV)

The Messiah is stating that the Scribes and Pharasees reject the commandment of YHWH.

Mark 7:11

"11But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free. " (KJV)

This is an oral tradition.

Mark 7:15

"15There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man. " (KJV)

Eating food does not make you sin. Unclean things are not considered food.

Mark 7:16

"16If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. " (KJV)

Translation Difference

According to Mark 7:16, what does a man need to be able to hear?

Mark 7:18

"18And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; " (KJV)

Eating food does not make you sin. Unclean things are not considered food.

Mark 7:27

"27But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. " (KJV)

Why was the Messiah reluctant to help this woman?

Mark Chapter 8

Mark 8:5

'5And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.' (KJV)

The seven (7) could represent the seven (7) Noahide laws.

'15And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod. ' (KJV)

Translation Difference

'And He was warning them, saying, “Mind! Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the leaven of Herodes.”' (The ISR Scriptures)

'And He ordered them, saying, Watch out, beware of the chametz of the Prushim, and of the chametz of Herod.' (The Restoration Scriptures)

'And He charged them, saying, See! Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.' (Hebraic Roots Bible)

Mark 8:19

'19When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve. ' (KJV)

The five (5) loaves could represent the five (5) books of the Torah when fed to the people will result in the reuniting of the twelve (12) tribes of Israel.

Mark 8:20

'20And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven. ' (KJV)

The seven (7) loaves could represent the seven (7) Noahide laws when fed to the people will result in some people following Torah.

Mark 8:33

'33But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men. ' (KJV)

So much for Peter's judgement. And this is with Christ in his presence.

Mark 8:34-38

I believe this is an important tenet of YAHUSHUA's message.

Mark Chapter 9

Mark 9:29

"29And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. " (KJV)

The power of prayer and fasting.

Mark 9:35

"35And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all. " (KJV)

I'm not sure if YAHUSHUA is saying the desire to be first makes you last and servant of all or that if you want to be first you must be last and servant of all.

Mark 9:37

"37Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me. " (KJV)

Evidence that YAHUSHUA is not the same as YHWH.

People who offend believers in YAHUSHUA will suffer.

Mark 9:43

"43And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: " (KJV)

If your hand offends

Mark 9:45

"45And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: " (KJV)

If your foot offends

Mark 9:47

"47And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: " (KJV)

If your eye offends

Mark 9:50

"50Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another." (KJV)

I think he is saying to be resolute and distinct in what you do.

Mark Chapter 10

Mark 10:14

The disciples rebuked the little children who were trying to come to YAHSHUA.

Mark 10:18

18And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. (KJV)

How is this possible if the Messiah is God?

Mark 10:19

19Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. (KJV)

Here Yahshua cites God's commandments.
Specifically, 7, 6, 8, 9, 10?, 5
Why would He do his if the commandments were being done away with?

Mark 10:25

25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. (KJV)

Here Yahshua shows the value of money/wealth.

Mark Chapter 11

Mark 11:17

And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves. (KJV)

YHWH's house is the temple in Jerusalem, (references needed) this means that when HE returns, HE will be in HIS house.  Will HE be practicing Christianity in HIS house after HIS return?

Mark Chapter 12

Mark 12:1-12

"" (KJV)

In this parable, I think the son was symbolic of Jesus Christ/Yahushua Meshiach and the husbandmen were sybolic of the house of Judah/Yahudah.

Mark 12:25

"25For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven. " (KJV)

According to YAHUSHUA, after the resurrection, we will be like the angels in heaven.

Mark 12:34

"34And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question. " (KJV)

Mark Chapter 13

Mark 13:32

'32But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. ' (KJV)

On the surface, Yeshua seems to be telling us that He has no idea when the end will come, but we forget who His audience was. He was not speaking to a bunch of Christians (as they didn't exist as such until much later), but to a bunch of Jews. The Jews understood what He was saying in a way that we do not. Allow me to explain.

While Moses was up on the mountain with Adonai, he was given instructions regarding how and when to worship Adonai our Elohim (God). He was given a list of seven festivals that we are to celebrate with Adonai, of which Passover was the first. Three of these feasts occur in the springtime, one in the early summer, and the last three take place in the fall. The first of the fall feasts is called Yom Teruah, or the feast of blowing trumpets. Today we refer to this holy day as Rosh HaShannah, but its original name referred to the blowing of trumpets that is commanded on that day.

Most of these Holy Days occur on or near the full moon. According to the Hebraic calendar, the months all begin with the sighting of the new moon (the first sliver). In ancient times, when the new moon was expected, many people would find a place where the setting sun could be easily seen. The first sliver of the moon can only be seen for a short time, just after sunset. Once they did see it, they would go to the Temple and inform the priests. As soon as two or three witnesses had seen the moon, the new month would be declared. Because of weather conditions and the rotation of the earth, one could never be sure if the new moon would be spotted on the 29th day or on the 30th day. Therefore, the day or hour that the new month would begin could not be known ahead of time.

Yom Teruah is the only festival that occurs on the first day of the month. Therefore, this festival is known as the day and hour that no man knows. Do you now see that this was a clue for us? Yeshua was not telling us that He didn't know what time of the year these events would occur. In fact, He was telling us exactly what time of the year!

EXODUS A Foreshadowing By Bonnie Wills

The Messiah was telling them his return would be on Yom Taruah. (See Note:)

Mark Chapter 14

Mark 14:1

1After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.(KJV)

A date marker.

Mark 14:63

63Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?(KJV)

This is a significant verse. By rending his clothes, the high priest defiled himself and this allows YAHUSHUA to step in as the undefiled High Priest.

Mark Chapter 15

Mark 15:10

"10For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy." (KJV)

(H) Pilate's Understanding of the Chief Priests' Authority

Mark 15:10 [NKJV], "For he [Pilate] knew that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy."

"If the chief priests did not have primary authority, but instead the Pharisees controlled the Temple area, the chief priests would have had less reason to be envious of the authority exercised by the Nazarene through the miracles. Instead the Pharisees would have played a more prominent role during the trial due to their authority, and the Pharisees would have shown envy. Note that Mark 15:10 does not say, "The Pharisees had handed Him over", but instead, "the chief priests had handed Him over". The last two times in Matthew that the Pharisees are mentioned are Mat 23:39; 27:62, but the trial occurred between these places. The last time that the Pharisees are mentioned in the other three Gospels are Mk 12:13; Lk 19:39; John 18:3, but these are all before the trial began. Thus the Pharisees by name seem totally absent from the trial."
